Introducing the Help Chat Channel

Ok, here's the story, a month or so ago I created a chat channel and it has really blown up and totally worked better than the Guild mechanic in this game ever could. I always knew it was a chance worth taking and it definitely panned out.

I want to create a help channel to hook up people who know a lot about the game with people who don't know as much.

I want to call it "help".

I'm gonna get my guys from AM to help out, all I want is really people who want to help out people for the NGE, to answer questions, etc.

People don't wanna come to the forums, or read a guidebook, or whatever. They want answers. NOW.

lol, yeah, but I think this could really help out the noobs/new players. I think a lot of people want to help but don't usually have the time. This is the way to do it, the best way to do it, I'm sure of it.

I could probably assist you when I'm online, though how will newer players become aware of the existence of this channel and how to use it? Will newer players be told when grouping on low level characters, or will the channel and how to access it be advertised over General chat in the harbor, or will they be notified by some other means?

I suggest we use plat-farmer style tells. That should get 'em.

This is a really good idea I think it would actually give the game meaning to me during the day.

I'm thinking either we spam harbor or something, we're gonna have to make the presence known, you're right, but I'm hoping word of mouth amongst some of the guilds that love to level will get out.

If we cna keep it rolling, it's gonna be easier than having them come to the forums.

Actually, I had just MSG'd alekx about it beforehand, and then rams when he divined the meaning of my post (I wanted to grab the channel name before anything, to make sure some a-hole didn't passwd protect it). He grabbed it and we're moving on.

As for the name, I'm thinking "help" is a better umbrella than "argohelp". But yeah Rams and me had the same idea at the same time.

To do this:

type /joinchannel help

then type or /1 - /4 to say something (that number will be based on what number user chat channel you joined, this information is in the general pane)

tip: to see the channel in your current window, right-click on the window's name (e.x. General), go to Incoming Channels, then click the number you want associated with

tip: to change the default text color, go to options (ctrl - o), video? (I think, I'll revise this since I'm doing it from memory), scroll down to where it has a bar with the words User Chat Channel 1, etc. next to it and that will change your default color
