    Default To The Newbz

There are no secrets to the game. Learn to take non-constructive criticisim. Dont drop group just because it is not going your way. Dont be afraid to ask questions. Dont get mad when The "Zerger" comes in and flys to completion. Learn from watching and doing. This game sucks when ya dont know the quest like the back of your hand. Please use push to talk, I do not need to hear you cough. It takes a lot of questing to get decent gear and weapons. If you do not know a quest say so. If you do not know a quest do not run ahead. Do "Buff" up. If you play a caster learn what "Aggro" is and avoid at all costs. Haste IS the greatest spell in the game. Use it, love it, and cherish the mighty haste spell. When a quest goes bad dont lay blame figure out why it went bad. If the quest goes smooth and fast figure out why. Hit points learn how to keep them. Learn to pull out of a fight BEFORE you die. Try not to take jibs and the **** talk personal, It is an important skill to craft a proper slam.
I am sure I left a bunch out, but this is a huge complex game. The anger pain and confusion are well rewarded in the end with Phat loot,XP, and good in-game friends. I do so love my addiction to DDO.

Just so you know not many "newbz" read the forums to gain your knowledge.

    Just a thought.

How are you supposed to learn if you just follow the zerger through the quest? If the other players know there is a new player they should go slower and explain along the way. Also, for those of us that are not powergamers, or have not done all the quests a hundred times, part of the enjoyment is learning the quests and solving problems.

A lot of good points here. However it may be more useful to explain how to do things like manage aggro or at least direct them to where they can learn on the forums.

Edit - how do you use that multi quote tool? Showing my newbness! Edit2- Thanks Miloyen!

    Talking

    Hi!
    I am, Rameses!
Some *sound words of advice, but who are you?
Are you from Ghallanda? If so I am from Argonnessen: Land of the Dragons.
I noticed that you've only made 4 posts since joining in '07, but you give solid advice for a "newbz?"
    Thanks!

    I am, Rameses!

Fine, if sort of obvious stuff from a specific game-play perspective. Also, what Asp said about the audience. One thing with which I might disagree: no one needs to learn how to take non-constructive criticism. If you are self-aware enough to realize that you are giving out non-constructive criticism and it is not going over well, learn how to give constructive criticism.

It looks like you left off the opening bracket [ in the QUOTE=zavozod;1832302]

Then back to topic ... BS If I wanted a zerger to teach me the quest I would ask for it. If I am new to a quest the last thing I want in a group is someone spouting off commands. I LIKE not knowing what is around the corner and that just does not happen unless you don't know the quest.

Q&A is the business of pointing out others' failures. Optimists need not apply.

    Attention,

Not all zergers are like this, some of us push the group hard but don't expect you to move at our pace if you don't want to. We slow it down every for ya'll even if our personal preference is high-paced. It's called respect and some of us do really respect people who don't wanna move that fast. Don't let 1 bad apple (or a bunch of 'em) spoil the few good ones.

    Thanks,

    tot

I think "Newbz" is a name of a kobold in Waterworks. He was obviously addressing kobolds.

Also, for those who adventure in Threnal, this could be a good or bad thing. I personally enjoyed Coyle not drawing real agro to himself:

Coyle has decided that attacking inanimate objects was not helpful to his party members.
Coyle has decided that attacking inanimate objects was not helpful to his party members.
Coyle has decided that attacking inanimate objects was not helpful to his party members.

This probably made the quest harder unless coyle is wielding a smiter.
