It takes a big talent to make me feel like a giggling girl in line at a pop rock concert, but this guy's writing and all the places his imagination has taken me over the years can just about rip my defenses down. No more calm, cool and collected here.
At a reading of his book Ilium way back when I shook his hand, told him how inspiring he was to me as a struggling writer myself, and then moved on. That was me on the outside; I kept cool. On the inside I was Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World back in old SNL days, "I'M NOT WORTHY! I'M NOT WORTHY!"
I've just started on his book The Terror and his talent and powerhouse abilities as a writer rushed back in for me and so I thought I'd post a plug for one of my influences and heroes.
I hope to spread the gospel, I suppose. If I can share with everyone, and maybe some of the readers here discover him for the first time...well, I envy you. I wish I could go back and rediscover Hyperion or Carrion Comfort or Summer of Night like new again, too.
So if you're an avid reader and would like to learn of a giant in the field, then check out his site and run out to your nearest book seller and see what you think. I doubt you'll be disappointed if you like genre fiction...

Thanks everyone.

P.S. And feel free to let me know if you're already a fan or not. Also, if you read one later on and want to post your thoughts about the book here -- that would be cool as well.
