Any known vista 64 ultimate issues?

Getting a bit of a run around from Gateway (go figure), trying to pass the buck over to you guys for the crash issues I am having in game. After a brief amount of playtime, the machine just shuts down on a dime (no warning, errors, or game glitch). First time happens fairly quickly (with a half hour or so), then more frequently has I reboot/reconnect. I've done this dance on a few different occasions, and it will shut down as quickly as within a couple of minutes by the third time.

Using a new Gateway P173X-FX

OS: Vista 64-bit Ultimate
Processor: Intel Core2 Duo T7500 @2.20 Ghz
Memory: 4gb
Video: NVidia GeForce 8800M GTS 512MB

Reeks of an overheating video card to me, but thought I'd see if you had any advice.

I play on my 64bit vista box jsut fine, can you post a dxdiag? Also can you please disable the auto reboot (computer properties>advanced>startup and recovery, uncheck the automatically restart box)

Play on HP laptop with Vista 64 no problems.

Heat issue without a doubt. Can you do something to keep the bottom cooler? They will likely advise you to some patch that will speed up the cooling fans ( and making it louder)

Switched that setting, although the machine was not auto-restarting (even though it was checked).

Certainly my first thought. But instead of trying to be helpful, they insisted that I reinstall DDO. Pretty much the default "**** off and go away" response. Willing to give it a shot, but hardly the first step I'd take.

Tried playing on a firm flat surface to help with ventilation, but still crapped out on me. Granted, it is summer time and hot as all get out here right now, but air temp in the house isn't much above 80.

Own a computer store down in alabama and see this issue alot with laptops and high end vid cards. I have noticed quite a bit of help from a simple laptop cooler plate. They are inexpensive, quite small and use one usb port for for power. I have seen them cool the vid card by 20 degrees and cpu by 10. definately worth a shot for the price. Any chance you are running two vid cards in SLI? i kept getting booted out of the game after a couple min. Only time it would work is when I turned off SLI.

Gateway? say no more ICCK theres your problem... not sure if Acer improved them much or not.. and as for the question about SLI I seriously doubt his laptop has SLI video. a few do, but i dont think thee Gateway name is on any of those.
