Default WF Healer -- useful build?

    Primary questions:
    (1) Is Quickness necessary for this build?
    (2) Is Quick Draw helpful for Wand Whipping?
    (3) Even if either is helpful, would it be better to take Improved Mental Toughness for 90 more spell points (on this build).

    Thanks for positive feedback.

P.S. Stress-free Warforged healing capability, i.e. Sorceror (or high UMD) is mandetory part of this build. I haven't decided if it will heal fleshies yet ;-).

At first glance, I thought you were making a battle cleric, but after reading your comments....I see that you are making a healer. I have a str based wf cleric that is actually pretty good to play with. However, the monk and sorc splash dont' make sense to me. I dont' know what you are looking for in that monk lvl except ac, maybe. IF so, don't waste your time. You are making a healer, not a tank. The sorc lvl is for sp I suppose? Again, I dont really agree with that trade off. You will get some more sp, but you will sacrifice usefull spell slots and maybe even top tier spells at this lvl cap.

I took one lvl ftr and the remaining were cleric. I will end up with over 1300 sp w/out any sorc lvl. Also, I will have 26 str with +1 tome and about 325 hps.

I'm not bashing your build or telling you it's gimp like many self proclaimed "uber" players, but I think there are some basic areas of concern based on what "my" perception of your build is.

Well I started out rebuilding the older PVP battle cleric build in the WF compendium that takes two rogue levels to get evasion and +1 dex. I don't intend to PVP and really want to be at least a capable healer so I decided to try rebuilding with 2 monk levels. However, I couldn't really get UMD I wanted on that build (or even on the rogue build) so then I decided that evasion wasn't doing much for me here (at least I don't think it will), but decided I still could use the AC buff, resists buff and skill point advantages that 1st level monk gave me. I popped in sorceror for arcane wand usage instead.

So in a long about way it 'developed'. Maybe I need to start clean, but it seems like Bladesworn with decent AC will be situationally 'fun'. And mana didn't seem too bad to me. I do still lose level 8 spells... that stinks, but ... how badly the overall build will play I can't tell.

    Bonus Question:
    (4) Does taking 1 level of sorceror improve my divine spell's casting time?

After reading more, I see the sorc splash. I still don't see why you would need it given your build, but to each their own.

The quicken is very important because even with a very high concentration skill, you get interrupted all the time. The porting evil outsiders always seem to pick the perfect time to pop up beside you just in time to cancel your spell.

Unless I'm mistaken, the quick draw will only let you switch out wands faster. It won't increase the rate at which you use them.

The improved mental toughness would help counter not taking the sorc lvl, but I think it's probably not needed w/the sorc lvl and the 300 sp u would get from your wiz 6 item.

All of this, of course, is my opinion

also, i meant to mention the use of a lot of +2 tomes. that is an expensive experiment.

I really think that your decision should be based on whether you want to fight or heal. If you just want to heal, I'd avoid wf and monk because they really help in the fighting builds. A dwarf or halfling cleric would be a diff look w/out sacrificing any of the things the healbot shines doing.

Now, a battle cleric is a diff story. My wf is doing ok so far. I am not taking sorc because the heal spell and enh's to increase healing % with empower healing on will be more than enough. Besides you are talking about comparing wands to divine sp. You will get much better numbers casting than reading a scroll, even w/out the healer friendly build enh's.

    Just some food for thought

Thanks Lonewolfe. I appreciate the feedback. I'll go back to drawing board a bit and see if I can improve along the lines you suggest, except I'd only play a cleric if it were WF so that'll definitely stick, hehe.

I wouldnt recommend an arcane splash class just for repair wands, you're capable of healing yourself, leveling up it would be faster to repair over cure wandage. But once you can cast Heal or use Heal scrolls, those repair wands are really going to take a back seat. You'd be swapping an easier lvl 1-10 ride for a level of divine casting power.

Unless I skipped something it would appear you have die hard selected as a feat. A note for you is that WF auto stabalize so that a useless feat on that toon.

Sorcerer does not provide real good WF healing, because 1 level won't let you use Reconstruct scrolls. A bard level would work better for that.

Quickdraw is worthless for you (and for most everyone)

You have a monk level, but I don't see what it gains you, except AC and saves, and a feat that you spend on Diehard (which should be impossible, because WF get Diehard as a racial bonus)

I think if you wanted to be a warforged cleric for healing warforged youd be better off rolling a wf sorcerer instead, maybe picking up 2 levels of rogue not only for evasion but to max umd to use raise scrolls or the very expensive ressurection scrolls, the only other problem would be no deathward since you cant buy these. you can buy almost any other scroll. A combined concentration check of +40 is viable for most content without quicken and on scrolls. I think concentration is broke and it doesnt matter what you roll, and basically concentration is like monster A hit you for 39 damage you roll 19 +40 success you roll 15 +38 failure. Going this way you max scroll damage , max repair and force line and become the quickest wf healer on the block and cast some pretty nasty magic missle or force missles. Another downside is there is no mass repair spell. Even ddo never imagined there may be a full warforged party. As for trying to fight with str of 16 good luck unless your swing a vorpal. to use monk stance you must use monk weapons. A umd note having 16 charisma and titan gloves 17 ranks +6 cha iskill item will be around 35 umd

If you want a WF healer build, you need 12 levels of sorc, reconstruction and quicken

Just be aware that once you get the heal spell, EVERY cleric is a WF healer. Especially if you invest in your healing spell bonuses for effect and crits.

Just remember the only real reason that warforged go cleric is so that they can mem raise dead. That way, when they kill the fleshie that they are experimenting on they can just raise it instead of going to the store and buying a new one.
