    Default Loot for you too

Unclassy loot style. I ran a raid, and an un-named individual had a +3 dex tome drop..person says.." I just used one earlier, so I can't use that". Five people asked if they could roll on it. Person said "Will you buy it", and proceeded to have an auction right there. I was dumbfounded.

Yes, your loot is your loot; I understand that. Maybe it's just me, and maybe I'm totally off base. I just thought that was quite tacky. I will remember, and jump in that raid as much as possible with said person. In hopes of looting a +3 tome he/she can use. I will then offer it up for roll to everyone else.

    /rant off

I'm gonna let it roll off my back, but I was a little upset at seeing that happen.

i can understand your feelings, its not what i would have done nor would i feed another's greed by bidding...

but I don't think he was so out of line either.

While I put stuff like that up for a roll myself when in a PUG, it was that person's right to do what they wanted. Can say I'd be mad or upset, but but it would have been nice to put it up for a roll. That's kinda the SOP from what I've seen.

I gathered as much Ringos. I wasn't so much upset, as I was dumbfounded that people actually stayed to bid on it. I left it alone. Figured he could be stuck with it himself.

    Default NOOB question

As I haven't levelled a toon yet to the point where he can run raids to get +3 tomes, I am not sure of the circumstances surrounding this issue. From what I read here and on other posts I gather once you take the tome it is bound? Is that correct? But, the person can allocate the tome to someone else in the group before taking it out of the chest? I am curious before I give my opinion on how I would handle the situation.

You mean I should just give away a +3 tome...... Rolling is a way to take something not worth much.
You should do something for someone who gives you something you really want...
I would expect to pay for something like that and am amazed when someone just lets others roll for it..
I go to friends first, auction second, then a trade...then a roll.

You know how much a +3 tome is worth....?

Have you ever let someone roll on a +3 tome? How about letting everyone roll on it becasue it was strength? How about handing it it to the high roller and not even getting a thanks. What about not even getting a thanks from anyone because it was so cool letting 10 people roll on it. So because of that any +3 tome I get that I don't need will go to the highest bidder. So now its greedy for me to ask for something? I would also like to note I once asked a cleric if I could buy the madstone boots from them for 50k plat, modest offer. They decided to let them go to a roll. No problem, I won the roll, looted the boots, opened a trade window and gave said cleric 50k plat. I'm not a greedy player but unfortunately there are many, many, that are. So if you had a left over +3 tome would you rather have an instance like mine? or make something out of it instead?

    Default Meh

The line I couldnt bring myself to etc is kind of upsetting. Ppl trade loads for +2 tomes and other rare items, why is it distasteful to trade for items on a rare +3 tome? Is it because you feel you dont get a fair shot at other ppls fortune? I have given and auctioned off tomes alike and given them to whatever toon that wants them not regarding class. You want to do it another way? Have at it, its yours. Have fun, cya in game.

PS This subject has been played multiple times on many other occasions. I would suggest a to each their own compromise and get back to playing game.

I've let folks roll on a +3 tome before, even after offers started coming in. The guy I passed it to never even thanked me.

Will I contine to put tomes up for a roll? Yep. Will I group with that guy who couldn't even say 'thanks'? Probably not.

Obviously folks aren't going to sway the people of a different mindset.

How about everybody does what they want with their drops and then we will all live with the concequences of our actions...just as it should be.

I agree Ringos, people will have to deal with what goes around........ I think regardless of what the item may be, vorpal, +3 tome, used toilet tissue, if you cannot take it out of the chest without it binding to you then give it to someone, else it be wasted. I would not have nerve (a personal feeling folks, not calling everyone nervy) to try to sell it knowing it does me absolute no good! If it was a +3 tome I could trade/AH/sell whatever, different story all together. I PERSONALLY think it is greed on the part of the auctioneer when he could do absolutely nothing with it, it is worthless to him. And if something is worthless to 'ME', then I give it away, I don't sell it!

Ok, let's see if +3 tomes are worthless to someone:

+3 STR - give ANY character more carrying capacity, plus it may help you NOT becoming helpless if hit with STR draining spells / weapons
+3 DEX - give ANY character +1 to reflex save and depending on the circumstances +1 to AC or even more
+3 CON - give ANY character more HP and more fortitude saves
+3 INT - give ANY character skill points and with the help of a Fox's Cunning potion (in some cases) can make you intelligent enough to open certain doors or runes (plus, someone with 10 INT base might want to get CE at some point...you never know)
+3 WIS - give ANY character more will saves...always good
+3 CHA - give ANY character a lot of benefits (UMD, bluff, duplomacy, intimidate, etc)

So, please tell me again how ANYONE getting a +3 tome that does not improve their main stat (or stats) shouldn't get it because it is wasted on them...
