    Default Mod 7 Spell List

Ok, given the state of the game today, what is your Mod 7 spell list and feat selection. I'm in the process of respeccing my sorc and I'm interested to hear if others are doing the same.

With Feats I've added spell pen I and II and all of the enhancements for them. Spells, I don't have my entire spell list in fromt of me but I've added Ray of Exhaustion, Crushing Despair, Blur, and Reconstruction to my spell list. I'm still tweaking a few things, but I plan on being more of a generalist instead of completely fire/ice damage specced.
Charater Names: Mostly Jeryle for the dudes and Merreth for the ladies
    Main: Wizards and Healers

drop ray of exhaustion and get scrolls of Waves of Exhaustion, there is no save on that spell and being maxed out on spell pen feats and enchantments like you are you can hit everything with it. Trust me I do this with 2/3 of the enchantments, blue robes and 1 of the feats and i need to roll a 18 or so (can't remember exact number) and i hit harry and the horned devil rather easily. Even easier if you ask one of the melees to wack him with a shattermantle for a few seconds

My spell list goes like this

lvl 1 Jump, Nightshield, Chill Touch(might change this to something, used to run undead beholder quest a lot), Ray of Enfeeblement
lvl 2 Web, Resist Energy, Scorching Ray, Blur
lvl 3 Protection from Energy, Rage, Fireball, Displacement
lvl 4 Firewall, Fireshield, Force Missiles, Phantasmal Killer
lvl 5 Ball Lightning, Cone of Cold, Cloudkill
lvl 6 Stone to Flesh, Acid Fog, Greater Heroism
lvl 7 Finger of Death, Symbol of Stunning (superior to dancing ball imo, dancing ball i only used in reavers fate, and the animation is less annoying :B)
    lvl 8 Polar Ray

Scrolls I carry around: Waves of Exhaustion, Dimension Door (600 left still, lol...), Teleport, Greater Teleport, Enervation (for those pesky beholders in the sub)

Feats I carry changed a few after mod7 came out, in no particular order
    Mental Toughness
    Empower
    Maximize
Quicken (yep, thats right, lol its a lot of fun but burns those SP)
    Heighten
    Extend
    Spell Pen I

I am a human before anyone questions why I have so many feats :B

I have to question the choice of mental toughness. I know some are going back after avoiding that feat for so long but I still prefer Spell Pen II. The feat will apply to scrolls, which is important if you don't take a spell (becasue enhancements do not apply to scrolls) and the extra sp seems a little redundant. Mental toughness gives you 85 sp? A Mnemonic Enhancement pot will give you that pretty inexpensively. Cheap ones are not a bad thing to have around anyway to take care of feeblemind, so if you really do run out and need some sp, its there. I know a heal will help with feeblemind but I feel a little embarassed to ask for one of those and that doesn't help in the middle of an encounter with the forces of evil that plauge our fair city of Stormreach. (sorry, got carried away)

i should have posted this but i guess i didn't expect to be asked, I am in the middle of swapping feats around and will be dropping mental toughness completely. I carry around a lot of mnemonic potions of all sizes and since im on the verge of getting my t3 goggles finally I don't think im going to have any issues with spell points in the future.

As for enchancement stacking on scrolls, i thought they did but really i never paid that much attention to the dice roll only when it says Success! So I'll say I stand corrected.

I'm just curious as to why you'd have both phantasmal killer and finger of death.. phantasmal is fort + will save while finger is just fort save yet both do the exact same thing.

I replaced PK with D Door personally but a lot of people like to be able to spam insta-kill. If you have both you can fire them off without waiting for the cool down.

Since he said he has 600 d door scrolls he probably doesn't have anything better to fill the slot.

For you guys that drop discoball what do you do in reaver? Just try and finger/PK them asap?

Or drop a few Walls of Fire in select spots so that they twirl in and out, taking fairly fast damage. Although, this requires some trust from the group.

My spell list is in no way specced for the mod7 raids. I haven't set foot in there with any of my characters.

    Level1
    Jump
Shield (Why do people use Nightshield? Don't they have better than +3 Resistance items? I prefer +4 AC though it's not much)
    Tumble
Magic Missile (For old times' sake )

    Level2
Hypnotic Pattern (I use this instead of disco ball in the Reaver)
    Resist Energy
    Web
    Scorching Ray

    Level3
    Haste
    Displacement
    Fireball
    Rage

    Level4
Phantasmal Killer (I have SF: Illusion for when we eventually get Weird, and with Improved Heighten PK costs less than a FoD )
    Stoneskin
Enervation (I don't like scrolling offensive spells)
    Firewall

    Level5
    Cone of Cold
    Ball Lightning
Hold Monster (For stuff that has high fortitude saves, then I just whack away with dual puncturers)
Dismissal (Works fairly well against low hd mobs, such as the scorps in the Vale)

    Level6
Greater Heroism (Fear Immunity alone makes this worth it. Scrolling would be an option, too)
    Disintegrate (Golems, anyone?)
Flesh to Stone (Nice to have for those mean undead mobs)

    Level7
Finger of Death (Yes, I like spamming PK-FoD-PK )
Waves of Exhaustion (Again, don't like scrolling offensive spells. May swap this one out)

    Level8
Otto's Irrestible Dance (Level 8 spells suck, big time. Couldn't think of anything else)
    Caius Furius Aurelius of Fernia
    Philadelphus - Theodorus - Vibius - Isidorus - Cnaeus - Lucius - Flavius
    Aurelia - Lucilla - Iulia - Marciana - Caecilia - Pompeia
    Subsidium - Robotello - Roboangelo - Argentarius

otto's irresistible dance is supposed to be really good especially if your maxed on spell pen stuff, maybe I'll experiment with that and maybe Enlarge

Actually, I don't have one. Well I have one, but I don't wear them on my caster. I have +4 rings and cloaks sitting in the bank waiting for leveled up characters...

The reason for this is that I'd rather not waste a slot for a resistance item on my caster. I achieve the same saves bonus as wearing a Kardin's Eye with Nightshield and a Head of Good Fortune. It's also not very often that I actually have to worry about failing a save in the first place.

Basically it boils down to the fact that I choose to use my inventory slots to benefit me in ways that are more important to me than saves.

My wizard has a Resistance +4 cloak, but I prefer to wear the Stormreaver's Napkin and cast Nightshield for +3.

I play a wizard 16, but I'll pretend that I had a limited selection. The most important to me are listed first, then seldom-used and secondary importance are in (parenthesis).

1st: Nightshield, Jump, (Ray of Enfeeblement)
2nd: Web, Blur, False Life, (Resist Energy)
3rd: Haste, Protection from Energy, Displacement, (Rage)
4th: Stoneskin, Wall of Fire, Solid Fog, (Fear, Force Missile)
5th: Cone of Cold, Teleport, (Cloudkill)
6th: Greater Heorism, Disintegrate, (Flesh to Stone, Acid Fog)
7th: Finger of Death, Otto's Dancing Sphere, (Waves of Exhaustion)
8th: Polar Ray, (Otto's Irresistable Dance)

My observations of non-warforged sorcerors is they are often too fragile. They almost never buff up with false life, stoneskin, displacement and protection from energy. My wizard never goes without these.

Agree. But not many melee types like the result when they don't fight in the CC.

The last time I did Reaver a Bard and another Sorc lit up the place like the China Olympics with dancing balls. I stood near the puzzle man, clicked on Enlarge and Fingered / Dismissed everything that showed its face. Well . . . I got 9 of the 10 Elementals that popped. It was so easy I begain to wonder if the ball was needed anymore. With Enlarge there was no need to even move -- everything was a Tab key away.

Yep, Otto's is great against mean orange named bosses. Besides that, I really haven't found a use for it.

    Good choice then my friend.

I still keep knock for those odd shroud runs with no rogue-type.
