Thread: Props

I was part of an epic shroud run on Saturday night. Ministry (of Legion) led. There was one caster, 2 clerics (one new to the Shroud), one rogue, one bard and all the rest various forms of tank.

    Part 1 - a piece of cake.
Part 2 - was a bit of a struggle, but some quickly juggling of people and we got them down
Part 3 - the wall killed everyone but me (I was the cleric hanging out in the center) and one AFK still in part 2, and I was able to pull it back together and we moved on
Part 4 - generally a piece of cake

Part 5 started out very smooth, but about halfway through Harry's hitpoints, the lag monster hit hard, and all my healing went out of sync. People started dying, pools were drying up, we were digging through our packs for scrolls and mnemonics, Harry was on a rampage. 6 of us left, then 5, I got killed, 3 and then just two - a wizard (Surigam) and a ranger (Xethllo) [sp?] . At this point, Harry was down to a single pixel-width of health. And those two danced with him for 2-3 minutes (but it felt like a lot longer) before they finally pulled him down.

I'm sure it seems pretty droll in text, but it was incredible to be there - everyone worked as a team, helped each other out, bonded together to keep things going.

I wouldn't want every run to go like that, but for all the pain, it was one of the most enjoyable times I've had in DDO. I don't remember all the names ( I should have taken a screenshot), but I do want to give props to Ministry at least - great job leading and keeping everyone together.

Minn is simply a class act, both as a person and as a player.
One of the best, as far as I'm concerned.

    Epic!

I was just in a Shroud, 66 minutes, no drama, collect our end rewards.. swap characters and run again - total fiasco. Despite disconnects, a stuck orthon, and everything else, we decided to go into part 4 two players short...

Once Harry comes down lag is so bad heals and hastes are doing nothing for minutes ata time... we survive the first round with two dead.. in the confusion I put up a d-door, assuming we were doomed - just as we decide to go on fighting we realize one of the two clerics has taken the door! My fault for putting it there, of course.

It's just amazing - same (very solid) players, just the split second luck and server lag that separate a smooth run from a collapse.

We had a shroud run like that a few weeks ago. Part 4 comes along and everything seems to be going smoothly until several of the group go down with lag issues. It's probably round 3 by the time the lag is over with and there was about 4 of us left. Harry comes down and it seemed like we all had a string of natural 20's... the gnolls go down one blue vorpal after another. Harry takes out two more (including a cleric) and we are down to me on my barb and a fighter. It was a toe to toe battle knowing the whole time if he didn't go down this round, we were sunk. With more than a little luck we pulled it off and it was one of the most satisfying and exciting battles... epic even... I have been a part of in DDO.

He is. But don't let him know...

    He'll get a swelled head!
