    Default Demon Queen

In a small guild. We're trying to short man this (don't think any of our members have done the raid with a pug). We wiped pretty quick the first time. Second time, we lived longer, but she teleported away and never came back. I think she was gone 3 or 4 minutes before we finally succumbed to those stupid spinning blades. Any tips? We've got a 16th bard, 16 pally, 14 rng/fighter, 15 clr/fighter, and two sorcs (14 and 15, only had one sorc for that first run). Was she supposed to come back to the main platform? The gnolls were absolutely destroying us with their ranged. How do we kill those guys? Are there any safer spots for the cleric to stand? It was too much for me to be running around like a mad man, trying to watch blades and health bars at the same time.

the 2nd time was mostly the quest being bugged, she's notorious for bugging if you hit her too early off the bat

Yikes! So if she teleports away, we're done? Or if she stays away longer than a certain amount of time? How much time? I think we did get her down about a third before she bounced.

Kill the gnolls the same way you kill anything...

But the second time you ran it, like Tot said, sounds like she bugged..

If you plan on running this often you'll find she does that quite a bit.

Tactics? Most PuG's have everyone stand on the cleric while the casters blast her and the clerics mass heal.

The queen can and will bug if there are not enough targets for her early in the fight. I've been in a couple small groups where when I am the solo survivor she will tend to go bug into her invulnerable state.

As far as the ranging gnolls, range them back.

I haven't been in the DQ in like 2 updates so some of my information will be dated.

In my work with her I have found that if you set up two teams, one at one pillar and another at the opposite pillar you will be able to bounce her back and forth between the groups based on damage.

Blade barriers can be removed through either dispel magic or break enchantment (I was never the caster in there so I dont know for sure which).

Once the gnolls spawn and the queen is off platform you can turtle up behind shields and the gnolls will occasionally stop their attacks until someone touches the raised circle that makes up one of the two rings in the center of the platform. Freedom of movement is a good buff to have up vs the crippling/hamstring (forget which) arrows the gnolls shoot.

If the quest does not bug the queen is off platform for 30 seconds and on platform for 45, like clockwork. Keeping track of time will let you have a nice hard hitting firewall waiting for the queen when she teleports back.

When starting the quest you can hold the queen on the center platform by having two people stand to either side of her. One should be swinging like mad, two weapons, while the other talks to her. Damage in the first second or so will interrupt her teleport and she will be stuck on the center for a short while, till you get her health down to x%.

If she does bug you can try having the whole group jump down to one of the portals and coming right back up. If you are on the platforms by the portals for 6 sec or more you will spawn fire elemental and djinns who will pummel you with fire balls and force missles. If that doesn't unbug her you will have to start again.

When she says "I am distruction...." the blade barriers will stay on the platform permanently and you should try to have a decent amount of sp in reserve for healing and/or dispelling while you finish her off. Scorching ray is/was a good spell vs her.

Alternatively to deal with the gnolls have a single fighter shoot each of them with a few arrows to gain their attention and then turtle up behind a good tower shield. That way you only have one person to heal from them.

Hope those hints help and aren't too outdated.

Nice! Thanks, Turial. We'll take another crack at her in the next couple weeks. Maybe with our usual 6 man group it'll be a little more manageable. I guess she's old hat to most around here. I searched the forums for "Demon Queen", but struck out on any strategy discussions. It's good to know her teleport cycle. That alone will save us a lot of grief.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this....

Everyone in your group that's not a healer or arcane caster should have a ranged weapon. Meleeing her means instant death for the most part. Frankly its a waste of healer mana if you have casters. I've been in a group that beat her on elite with no healer types/casters only tanks all using ranged and drinking healing pots.

Don't let her get close to you, move if she's getting close.

The biggest hp caster should drop firewalls on the gnolls on the pillars - expect them to start getting hammered by arrows after doing so. Someone can shield block in front of the caster with arrow aggro.

Your ranged people can range her on the outside even when she's teleporting around, also your casters probably can drop a firewall on her on the outside.

Best spells imo: first 2/3 health - scorching ray; last 2/3 health spells level 5+ (cone of cold/polar ray/Delay Blast Fireball are my favorites)
