I'm not the best cleric on the server just an average joe and i would certainly like to be part off well put together shroud runs like that , but from my experience some of the runs i've been in have been far from adequate , as a matter of fact **** disasters and expensive . I'm not calling anyone out or pointing fingers of blame because some of it rests in my inexperience and i shoulder some of the burden . Heres how it gets hard for me and this is my one and only gripe from shroud part two to part five people being out of range of your healing , so much so that you have to open the big map to check where they are , or worse case get into a position to heal them which usually means endangering the whole raid .
Anyway thanks for the insight Ren all those points i've hoisted on board and i'm looking forward to putting them into practice ^^

I guess I really am just a mediocre healer on both my clerics. Uma has quicken (which she rarely uses.. hm, might be time to visit Fred again) and Dallie has either maximize or empower, I forget- which she only uses when she's being an aggressive caster, rather than for healing. The exception to both of these is Suulomides. Occasionally I'll use quicken against the big grey booger, rarely will I use Dallie's metamagic.

The only time I really notice folks being out of range is part 4. Where the boss decides to move dictates this. As a cleric, I adjust my position based on the range I need to be in to throw the heals, as the melee-types must move with the boss. This may mean moving up, throwing a heal and then moving back....depending on the blade situation. Once the blades have moved a bit, it's safe to move up and be in range the whole time. Clerics generally don't worry about people ranging or casters in our runs.

    Take care.

My caster can take take care of his own healing and I find many clerics expect me to do just that. I certainly appreciate the heals when they come but but do not expect them because then I would be caught short. However, there are times a heal along the way is greatly appreciated because of the time saved to load a heal scroll and/or the missed self heal due to a concentration check.

Ir doesn't require a ton of metamagics to be a good cleric. Just last night I was first healer on part 5 of the shroud because Bunker and I had a deal, I was only going to do 30 percent of the healing and no buffing in the entire shroud, what can I say I didn't really want to play my cleric.

So I went first and cast mass heals while backing in and out of the portal. The only meta I had on was Quicken and we finished the quest with me still having some blue left and Bunker only throwing 5 or 6 spot heals. So much for the 30/70 deal.

So no mana pots, no scrolls, no deaths, and only 1 metamagic (quicken) on. It's all about knowing how much your mass heals hit for and having a feel for when to cast them, not running with a ton of metamagic feats going. More often than not I see the clerics that are talking about how their mass heals hit for so much and all of their metamagic feats, run out of Spell Points in the shroud, hound, and drinking more pots than needed in visions.

Know your character and trust in the way YOU designed it.

I was in no way implying that I won't heal a caster or ranger or course . It is jus usaully assumed in the groups I've run with that they will take care of themselves. I'm always quick to throw a full Heal on anyone in need, but keeping those others topped off usually isn't something we worry about. A shout for a heal gets answered quickly. When speaking of casters and rangers, I'm speaking of anyone that isn't in melee...if a ranger or caster is beating on the boss, they would get healed of course.

Fair enough, If I get caught in the blades and take a few fireballs I'll be sure to run in and give him a wack so you'll know
