I got it! make it so you have to choose between a light green steel sheild or a spiked green steel sheild and make the spiked 1 have it count as peirce aswell as bludgeon. so on and so forth for all sizes.
My suggestion:
Treat them as weapons for purposes of most enhancements, but modify some as follows:
Holy/Frost etc: Make these into 'guard' effects - "Holy Guard - this shield deals 2d6 good damage to any evil foe that makes a melee attack against the wearer"
Also modify the combo upgrades to match those of equipment - so Mineral 2 grants Heavy Fort and Protection +5 rather than transmuting and the other stuff.
I don't have a zerging problem.
I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.
Reviving this as I don't believe it's been addressed and should be.
Please put Green Steel Shields in the game.

Agreed. It would be really nice to have some new, useful high level shields. Greensteel would be cool, but they would have to add some new effects designed specifically for the S&B crowd; increased hate, AC bonuses, extra DR, etc. Also, if possible, it would be fun to make shield bashing useful with some of these new effects (I keep envisioning the shield bashing from 300), such as giving a really good bonus to trip or stunning blow when shield bashing. That way if you have the feat you can stun or trip an opponent affectively. Just a thought.

I would LOVE to see sheild crafting added to the game.
Unfortunately I have a feeling that when it is added it will most likely include a very difficults, random, frustrating crafting mechanism, with a quest that you HAVE to complete that is totally broken, and have effects added that are very expensive and have a bug that 50% of the time instead of something like Exceptional Str 1, you get permanant Bulls Str.
Here is to hoping for something fun & useful though!
