Default Cannot bind local socket error - new

I have been playing with two clients for a long time. Now, just today.. I am receiving the Cannot Bind Local Socket error.

I have not changed anything in my OS setup.

I have tried rebooting and get the same error.

Has Turbine changed anything to not allow two clients run from the same machine?

    Any help? Thanks!

    Vista boot.. get this error

When I use my XP machine, I do not get this error. Something must have changed from yesterday to today in Vista.

We havent changed anything overnight - if you are getting this error try copying the files from the "backup" folder in your ddo directory into your main directory (overwriting when asked)

    Default still happening... :(

I replaced both folders with the data from the backup folder and I am getting the same thing.

It is weird.. I like to figure out problems like this.. I remember installing Kaspersky AV (but I excluded the ddo executables) and I even tried to turn off Kaspersky and it still got the error. Plus, after I installed Kaspersky.. I was able to play DDO with two clients.

    Any other ideas?

Did you try doing a clean boot?

To perform a clean boot, follow the steps that are appropriate for your version of Windows.
Note: You may experience a temporary loss of some services functionality when you follow these steps. When you restore the settings, the functionality will be restored. However, the original error message or behavior may return.
    For Windows Vista:
1.Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. -If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue
    2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup
    3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box
    4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All
    5. Click OK, and then click Restart
    For Windows XP:
1.Click Start, click Run, type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK
2.On the General tab, click Selective Startup
3.Under Selective Startup, click to clear the following check boxes: Load Startup Items
4.Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All
5.Click OK, and then click Restart

After the computer starts, test your game and see whether the problems occur.
To restore the computer to use a normal startup:
    1.Start the System Configuration Utility
    2.Click the General tab
    3.Click Normal Startup
    4.Click OK
    1. Restart your computer

I think something was changed with regards to the new Turbine Launcher. I reisntalled the whole operating system and only installed two copies of DDO and still got the socket error.

I am seeing the same issue in LOTRO as well.

Try reinstalling .net 1.1 and its service pack then try launching again, if this is happening on both games - also make sure internet explorer is not in "work offline" mode
