Default Docent of Defiance or Docent of Quickening?

Well I traded away my +8 Armor Bracers (RR: Warforged) yesterday for a Docent of Defiance. I then proceeded to go on a Shroud run where I believe the Defiance part triggered once and I believe it was for a very short time.

How often does this "hidden" property of the D of D trigger and how long does it usually last?

Also, I was using a Docent of Quickening (which annoyingly has the same graphic as the D of D) before I made the trade. My question is, which one would you guys use?

The toon that has it is a lvl 15 Monk with a 43 AC before any kinda buffs, Combat Expertise, etc. Oh, he's also a two kama wielder if that's relevant.

This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

It always triggers for 20 seconds. Sounds like you buff into the mid 50s AC during shroud, so you're AC is actually being somewhat useful, dont expect alot of procs during the shroud unless you're tanking one of the part 2 bosses or standing infront of harry. (excluding the fire elemental) A decent - high AC kinda marginalizes the docents proc effect, but you also have the boon of being a support class, unless you're being hit by a cleave attack you shouldnt have aggro long enough for it to proc or for the proc to matter. The docent is still good for the plethora of resists, just dont expect the proc alot unless you're being pounded, rate is ~ 10%, which is high enough if you're getting hit quite often.

The Defiance gives DR20 for 20 sec.
Trigger rate is quite often in my expirience.
When I(Tempest Barb) was tanking the Horned Devil I think I maintained it for 20sec outta every 1~2 minutes or so.

As a monk, the only way you can get meaningful DR is by that docent IMO. (Cuase Monks can't use Sheilds)
In other words, if you don't need to tank, you don't 'really' need it. (Course it helps but...)
And you have high Tumble, which somehow negates the penalty of slow movement.
Not to mention that Monks don't have elemental resists also. 20/20/20 helps a lot.

The Quickning doesn't stack with Haste I guess?

Judging by demand(A.K.A. AH price), the Defiance has much higher value than the Quickning too.
Thank god I bought it out from AH for 150kpp

Personally I would stick with the Docent of Defiance as the Docent of Quickening doesn't stack with haste (or air stance). The 5% chance or so to have the effect go off is more potent in a raid situation, considering you often have haste. However, if you are in a situation where you are running and being put at 10% movement speed is not an option, switch back to the Docent of Quickening.

Thank you all for your input. I will keep the Docent of Defiance on most of the time except in running situations and for places like the Coalesence Chamber.

i run with both of them. when im just doing trash easy to beat mobs, or the there is no haste available (no, i dont drink pots)i use the doq. if im doin a big fight (red named, or being totally surrounded) i swap out the dod. only thing i hate about the dod proc'in is if im in the middle of a mob, get em all kill't, then its time to move to the next mob. i have to do the turtle hop, as i have no tumble invested....i love both of them, and would hate to get rid of either. i got lucky on the dod on the ah. first one i got for a 50k plat buyout. second one i won the auction for 75k plat. last one i seen on the ah was on there a few times, first was for a 5 mill buyout. then 3 days later it dropped to a 4 mil buyout. 3 days later it went down to 3 mil. dunno what happend to it 3 days later.

I tested the docent in PvP. It activates usually once in twenty hits, so five percent. It can also reactivate while already going as long as you actually take damage. When you're in a situation where you're constantly being hit, it's extremely possible for it to stay permanantly activated. Very handy for those boss fights where your designated healer is usually burning through a fortune in scrolls keeping you alive.

The docent of defiance is very nicely compimented for those boss fights by scourge choker and cloak of curses (also drop from the same chest). Just make sure to equip another cloak quickly as soon as the boss is cursed.

When did u test this ghoste? Ever since I came back to the game, and acquired one (few months into mod 6) I've never seen it proc while already active, and I never take it off, altho I probably should for coal chamber runs.
