Shroud Tips for N00bs

Shroud Tips...

Prep...

First you should make sure you have the "oh so perfect party"

Meaning...
No rangers!...
no part rangers
no ranger hybrids
no guys who know how to use a ranged weapon
in fact, you should probably avoid people who have even met a ranger...
same goes for thieves...
oh my bad I mean Rogues(::rolls eyes

Next check with everyone to make sure the got the right weapons.

Vorpals...

that's it, just....vorpals the ulta uber status weapon.

No transmu-whatevers, no bursts of any kind...

don't even let them lie to you about those mythical Silver/holy weapons....
(they don't exist they just talk about them to screw with the n00bs)

Enter the quest and don't bother buffing...
Especially True Seeing...
waste of manna ...
you will need all your manna later on the last portal so you can use your WHOLE bar nuking it.

okay talk to the long winded chick while the clerics are on their way to the quest or AFK...
keeps them on their toes...
and if they get locked out ...
good that'll teach em!

Part 1...
should take no longer than 1 and a half hours...
any longer and the group is gimp and you should.drop quickly
everyone should just run out and chase stuff all over the map...
don't bother with the portals for a while(it's not like they're goin anywhere)
After you get rid of those pesky keepers start killing the portals.
Make sure you don't bunch up 1 man to a portal!
Swing them vorpals!
If by some miracle you haven't wiped you can move on to part 2

Part 2...
Roughly an hour depending on your group
you'll start by zoning in separated into the 4 corners of the map
just run to the middle to see what you have...

ignore all the screaming...
they just don't appreciate your sacrifice.

after the clerics get everyone back up(assuming they made it into the quest)
the fighters should head to the trees and stand inside to protect any caster who might need to get manna back.
Oh, I know they'll complain but who cares they're only casters what do they know?
kill stuff
kill stuff again
kill stuff again and again....(where does it keep coming from?)
Break the crystal...wall comes down boom part 2 done...

Part 3...
This parts tough...buff to the nines goin in
You'll start off in a room with a puzzle

It's really easy...
just run around on the thingies till the door opens(or a wall comes and kills you)
don't let anyone let you out and do it for you...
it's your puzzle dammit!

If you get sick of it just break the crystal to get out..

Run around in the hallways to find the middle (I think the yellow things on the floor give you manna)
There will be blades flying around in the halls just ignore them.
run up the ramp and get some water from the statue there.
run back and start purifying fountains (gotta get em all, make sure you get the ones that puzzle wasn't done in)
if you don't get at least 2 walls you did something wrong.

Part 4...
You'll be in a big room with blades spinning around the room...
Attack the first spawns and soon you'll meet Ole' Harry hisself
He'll drop in the middle just rush him and swing away with your vorpal!
After a little while he'll run away and you'll get a second wave of devils and gnolls and stuff
DO NOT KILL THE GNOLLS!...
They are trying to help you.
They will start casting some rays at him.
You'll see...just let them do their thing
this can be done in as little as 6 passes...

I've seen it done

Part 5...
Those annoying respawners are baaaaaack from part 2...
it'll be the same 4 guys
Run around and kill them as fast as you can...
other players may try to tell you not to kill 1 guy or another
just so the clerics can get back their manna. (who may or may not have made it into the quest)
This, of course, is n00b paranoia.
Oh and guess what!...Harrys back too!
Kill him and boom your done...easy!

Oh, and we don't bother buffing when entering shroud. Waste of time. Part 1 is easy. Just haste and go, true seeing on the run ftw.

I never buff Mhykke in the Shroud, at any time. Waste of time. Letting him die is just as easy.

You let paladins in your raids? Bah. They should be banned as well. And fighters. And monks. In fact, if you have haste clickies the only characters with blue bars should be clerics. Everyone else should be a barbarian, crit specced so that the vorpals go off more often.

Now you should be thanking that group for the memories. I am sure you have memories of that run etched into your brain unlike the dozens of nominal runs you have undertaken. Those guys gave you something special to treasure...
