Traded a +3 tome out of the Reaver's chest. I know they bind, so the trade's gotta happen right then. What should I have expected to be able to get in terms of bids? It was worth 15 hp to my guy. So didn't seem like a that tremendous an item to me.

+2 Tomes go very quickly at a 300K buyout on the AH so it wouldn't be unreasonable at all to ask for anywhere from 500k-1,000K plat for one out of the box.
I pulled a +3 Int tome recently and put it up for offers to the two Wizzies in the group. I got offered 200K plat . Thanks but no thanks, at the endgame content I'm grinding for now days being on an even number with a +1 tome I'll bank those extra four skill points at 50K each without a doubt.

j/k, I really have no problems with folks eating tomes they can't use, trying to trade them, etc. But I know a lot of folks feel you shouldn't ask for anything if it's not something your build can best use.
Some people just put raid drops up for a roll and don't ask anything (if they don't need the item).
I suppose if you want the max price out of it though, have people bid in party chat. not sure if there is really a 'set value' for a +3 tome.

The idea of a person paying MORE than the price of a +2 tome at the Auction House for a +3 tome from a raid chest is utterly absurd. If they wanted to pay for the tome they would buy it and not raid for it.
I never ask for anything in trade for raid loot, tome or not, unless it just so happens that an item I want dropped for somebody that could use the item that dropped for me. Swaps fair. Purchase? What a friggin joke.
Well, nothing else dropped, so there was nothing to swap for. No, I did not get plat for it. Glad I've asked this question (this was my third completed raid), as it seems that you're quite peeved about the whole concept of me receiving any compensation for this pull. I don't want to foment any ill feelings with the community, so everyone please pipe in as to whether it's your experience that I should have just given this thing away, or open it up for reasonable bids. Perhaps Asp isn't upset with some sort of compensation, just the suggested compensations offered up earlier in the thread?
I will never "Bid" on any Item in a Raid Chest.
Your Loot is your Loot.... So you can do whatever ya want, but Id rather see someone eat a tome they cant use rather than selling it to a party member.
Keep Your Loot.
Give your Loot away to a Guildy or Friend
Put your Loot up for Roll.
Trade for another piece of Raid Loot from the Chest
I will always Respect those options. Not somuch others.
I understand the sentiment. However, I don't believe there is anything wrong with accepting plat for an item like a tome. Go a step a further and do some RP and I can see neutral or chaotic characters being well within their virtues to barter for the highest price. This is one of those gray areas where real life issues (guildies, friends) can directly impact with gameplay.

I totally disagree that selling loot out of a Raid chest is bad. As a buyer I was thrilled I was able to get the Madstone boots I wanted for 35k plat. Granted, it would have even been better for free, but two guys wanted it, and instead of roll he had us bid. If it was a guildie, I would have exploded. But in a PUG, why not? I am much happier that I got something I was happy to pay for then the guy taking them and selling them to a vendor, or parking it in his bank as a trophy.
So please, don't everyone read this thread and be embarrassed to offer it up for sale. Why shouldn't someone get a little benefit out of a pull they can't use...sounds like a win-win situation to me.
Your loot, enjoy it...work it to your advantage. No one is forced to pay you for it...
Okay, maybe I didn't understand the fact that the tome was considered part of the raid loot. (just like the named items) The thing binding upon removal from the chest should have been my first clue. Lesson learned. If the thing had been a non-binding +2 then all bets are off? (someone had pulled one of those on the previous Reaver I'd done.) Just trying to make this black and white in my mind, rather than shades of gray.
wether you are a fighter, or a wizard....everyone can use a +3 con tome. They are rare drops and you were very lucky to pull one on your 3rd run. I say take any +3 tome that drops for you and eat it. Only offer it up if its one you have already eaten. But thats, my oppinion. I got burned several times by seeing a barbarian eat a +3 wis tome right in front of my clerics and say "+1 to my will saves"....good luck saving when your cleric will no longer heal you... So, get a tome, eat a tome, its as simple as that.

what the heck is ur problem n the same goes for many others. u will pay tons of plat for a +2 tome not bound but when someone pulls a +3 tome it should be given away since it is a raid item!?!?!?!? wow. i say sell if people complain that is their fault for being cry babies who whine about something not real that they want but are not willing to pay for. they expect it to be given to them at no charge cuz they somehow deserve a free +3 tome and IMO half the raid items (if not more) r a pile of junk compared to a +3 tome so asking non raid loot for them is and should be considered by anyone intelligent a worth while trade.
Your loot is your loot, if I pull a tome I can use, I will take it and use it, as long as it provides some benefit I have no issues with someone else doing the same.
I will personally never sell a bound tome or bid on one put up for auction but that's just me. I don't understand why people are so greedy sometimes when it comes to raid loot.
When I first started playing, I remember people giving me tens of thousands of gold just cause I was new. And since then, I've
passed it on for the same reason. I had it and was happy to help. If someone wanted to give me a piece of raid gear, or tome
they couldn't or didn't want to use, then that would be fine, but I would have enough decency to offer money for it, and I sure
as hell wouldn't have the audacity to b*tch or be childish enough to blacklist someone just because they asked for money for it.
Just as I wouldn't b*tch or complain about people not giving me money for no reason when I was a new player. I never expected
handouts, and neither should anyone else. Be grateful if someone is nice enough to give something away like that, but how dare
you demand or expect someone to give it away. Some people go through the same raid constantly looking for a certain reward
and don't ever see it and just like unbound loot that's equally rare goes for high cash on auction or good trades, why when a
person is fortunate enough to get one should they NOT value it as valuable as it actually is? Bottomline, if it shows up in your
chest, if you luck out and get it, it's yours and you should be able to do anything you want with it. And if nobody bids on that
tome or dares to call you out for not just up and giving it to them, eat the d*mn thing in front of them. If someone offered me
something like that, I'd offer up whatever I could even if they said to just take it. I offered a guy a trade at a way better deal
because he just let me have a raid item I could use cause it was the right way to respond to such generosity. You dare call him
greedy just because he thought to make money for his loot when you would've just taken it for nothing and thought nothing of
it? Seems pretty d*mned greedy to me.
I dont see anything wrong with asking for something for a +3 tome from warded chests I might if I wasnt going to use it myself as I usually run clerics or characters that can use some kind of healing so I could use cash to buy supplies and as I dont have lots of time to run loot runs I am very poor. If noone offered anything or someone was insulting I would either give it to who I felt like or leave it there, unless a friend or guildie was there and then I would let them have it in any case. Any other items I dont want or need from the chest I offer up freely for those who need them if noone needs it then its vendored to buy supplies
