This message is to the poster of the +4 Adamantine Kophesh on the auction house who put the buyout at 6000g. Yesterday I was messing around and decided to check the AH, and there at the bottom of the 2nd page was your auction. I snatched it up and sent it to my fighter, who also wants to say thank you. I do feel a little bad for the mistake, if it was one. But just a little.

This also got me thinking, has anyone else found a killer deal on the AH, or perhaps put a buyout on an item with a too few many zero's?

Best deal I've ever found on the AH was for a +2 w/p rapier. I immediately put down a 2.1 million plat bid, so no one could outbid me. Quite a steal.

For a low or no haggle character, the proceeds from selling at 6000 gold was proably about the same as if they just dropped it at a barkeep. (base price for a +4 is 32000 plus the boost for Admantine makes it about 35000.) Nominal sales price of 10% or 12.5% would yield something lke 3500 to 4000 gold.

Nice find, if you are looking for something Adamantine and clean (good against a certain contruct in Von5 for example).

There's a max bid you can place on the AH. If you bid that amount, no one can outbid you. Once I placed that bid, it was a lock for the win unless the person removed the item and I'm not sure the system rules around when you can and cannot remove your item.

Items can be removed as long as nobody has bid at any time, or if people have bid and it is within 1 hour of posting the auction.

After that hour has passed, once the item is bid on, it cannot be removed.

This might give the average player the opportunity to get an item that they would otherwise have trouble obtaining. Now of course, that item might just be found by a player who will repost it to make a profit, but the point is, why be sorry. If you got a great deal, you should feel pleased. And if you think you are robbing someone, just send out a jesture to anyone on the server and that might cure the pain. (or place 10kpp in the mail and send to anyone of my alts. )
