Water stance gives a bonus to ac while tumbling, too. If you go for whirlwind as a monk (another thread says it gives two attacks for monks, and considering how useful a lot of people consider spring attack to be), you may find some use from the combination.

It is a really quick and easy +6ac in combat. I actually don't know why more people don't use it. Tumble into combat, get +6ac, don't move and swing. If you need to move tumble to the location.

I pretty much use it on any character that is an ac build.

I use Tumble to backflip out of certain death when I grab a Blue Crystal and head down the Green Hallway in the Titan pre-raid.

I always Tumble around; sometimes I can tumble faster than a really slow character. The Giant's stomp attack evasion that Mr Cow mentioned is definitely true. Peace!

For example, could I use YGHJ with no shift as a set of tumble movement keys? I haven't seen "Tumble forward", "Tumble Left" etc as options for hotkeying. Is there another way. I'll get carpel tunnel if I try tumbling in combat with the shift key. I'll also wind up trying to shield bash everything.
I put it on one of my extraneous mouse buttons. I dunno, I have a mouse with 4 extra buttons, with one of them being tied to tumble/shield block, one tied to healing, and one tied to special abilities (many shot, diplo, intim, whatever). It works really great for me, cuz I'm right with you on that carpal tunnel thing, it was so difficult for me to hold shift and tumble that it made it not even worth it. But now it works! Oh, and before I tied it to my mouse button I tied it to g, it was pretty easy to get used to, and I pretty much keep the traditional setup otherwise.

AFAIK unless you can run a macro to do the shift-move action there isn't a way to key tumble to a single key.

IMO that is one of the weaknesses of the tumble feat -- it takes extra keystrokes/game pad keys/whatever to make it happen.

I do use tumble from time to time, mostly to get out of trouble.

OK, how? Do you have shield block on the mouse button and then just hold it while moving?

I thought OP was looking for a way to make certain keys the tumble keys for movement -- tumble left/right/straight/back -- so that he didn't need 2 keys. If you made even 1 of those work I'd like to know how you did it.
