Dragonmark of Sentinel Question

If one takes the middle rank of Lesser, does the Protection from Energy cap at 120 as per the spell - or does it continue to get stronger per level. I'm asking because the spell clearly states the 120 max, but the Dragonmark feat description does not mention a cap at all. In fact, the dragonmark description says that it yields 12 points of protection per character level.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

It caps, had it on my wizard for a while to save SP, and because she had and assinign number of feats.
