Among other things.
Hate to say it, the Dungeon Runners advert was good. So me and the hubby plucked down $20 apiece for a six month subscription and a Bling Gnome.
THe game is frigging hilarious!! It is trully fun to play, not for the game itself, but all the injokes inside. If I explain it all, I'll ruin someone's day. You really have to experience the game.
Saying that, now for the good and bad of it all:
1. BAD: Flashbacks of WoW chat. THe mouth is NOT controlled and the chat servers are pretty bad.
2. GOOD: It's free. You don't have buy what we did, you can get it for free. Can't use half the stuff (but you can sell it) or bypass all the adverts (which are funny) nor will you get the neatest minion in MMO: The Bling Gnome, but you can play the game without spending a penny
3. BAD: Free come with a price. If you thought WoW's graphics were bad... Sluggish too. not exactly bad lag, but like going through water.
4. NEUTRAL: THere only three classes. Unlike WoW, however, you have some control of the leveling process andyou can "multiclass" by buying abilities from other classes. No healer though.
5. NEUTRAL: Everything is simplified. A few weapons, and everyone can use everything.
6. BAD: ALOT of WoW type quests.
7. GOOD: Random dungeons. THey are all the same size and NPCs and such appear in all, if you leave the dungeon for more than five minutes, it resets and reconfigures. I liked that more than I thought. This has been a debate in the forums for awhile, but you can try it out on this game! DDO could apply it forsome of the smaller quests.
8.GOOD: Simple, yet wordy instructions. Very simple game. Even the instructions had me laughing my guts out.
9. BAD: Combat is WoW-based, simplified. Bars are not easy to modify. Not a game aheado of its time.
10. GOOD: outift changes and weapon design. THough blurry, the weapon design is ingenious! Giant wrenchs and Heart shaped axxes abound!! And what you wear effects the visual. Really neat: when you have a long haired girl, andshe dons a hat, her hair goes into a ponytail!
All in all, I like it better than WoW. THe feel is a bunch of developers made this in their spare time, so taking thegame serious is foolish. The Hubby and I have decided that this will be our off-DDO game.
So, if you taried of the DDO stress, anger, forum hate, or just need a alittle break to remind you what fun is all about, I would try this game. YOu will be laughing your head off, and all that DDO related Doomness will melt away. at the same time, you will apreactiate DDO alot more afterwords. Playing it constantly, you will lose the humour. But for a little while, you have that feeling that people forget sometimes in MMORGs: sheer fun!
