    Default weapons finesse damage question

When "weapons finesse" moves mod to DEX instead of STR
does it increase weapons damage AND BAB? Or just BAB?

In other words, if I had a Wiz with 8 STR and 13 DEX and I
took "weapons finesse", would my weapons damage be the
same as if I had a 13 STR? without weapons finesse?

Last time I check that feat allows weapons clased as "light" and rapiers to change the 'To-hit" stat from str to dex. While the damage is still factored by str.

    correct.

However, weapon finesse is best taken by people who have a very high dex in relation to their strength. A 13 dex is only slightly better than an 8 str. You might see a little improvment at lower levels, but will not see much difference when you level up, and will have a wasted feat that you will need to respec. If you had a 16 or 18 dex and you were a class that could boost DEX higher with enhancements, then weapon finesse would be appropriate. Even then, with a low strength your damage from melee will be very low, even when you do manage to hit things. For a wizard you're better off focusing on your spells and your INT score.

If you are still intent on hitting things you can take precision for the +4 to hit bonus, and switch to weapons with some special effect like cursespewing or destruction. Since your damage will stink anyway, the 1/2 base damage from precision won't matter. It may even keep the aggro off you.
