New Character Slots: General Timeline

Hi --

I know Turbine has stated that they are discussing methods of implementing additional character slots. Could Turbine please provide a time frame around the resolution of this discussion?

I -- and several guildies -- (but let's be honest here, I'm mostly concerned about me) -- am sitting at a full allotment of characters. I enjoy playing them all, but I 5 different builds I REALLY want to try out. If I am going to have to wait a year before seeing additional character slots I would like to know so I can bite the bullet and make some hard and painful decisions about who to delete. If I am going to have to wait a month or two, well then I can be a bit more patient.

Please don't hijack this thread and tell me to delete my mule (I don't have one), or tell me to roll up on a new server (my guild and friends and 32 pointer are all on the same server, I'm not moving), or tell me to buy a second account (please see the 32 point reference.)

I don't need a set in stone answer like Sept 14, 2008; but just a general "Yeah -- this is Priority 1A, we hope to have it in the next few months" or a "We're working on it, but it's on the backburner".

not being smart but couldn't you transfer one of your 32 point characters over to another server and them have them migrate that toon to a new account on your home server?

You'd be paying for another account but it would save you the time of getting a 32 pointer all over again. I know for a fact that you can do this, because I've done it myself, it just takes a bit of ear tugging.

I tried that, the specifically said they wouldn't do it and that moves had to be on the same account.

Actually that's exactly what I'm going to tell you to do.

Move a character that has 1750 favor over to another server. Then go talk to the favor guy and you will have 32 point builds available to you on that server. Make a new 32 pt character and transfer it back to your home server. Sure you're buying new slots at $25 a piece but it's better than waiting on Turbine and they've already said that you can transfer as many characters to a single server as you want even if it puts you over the normal slot limit. It works too.

My guess is that it is part of discussions on an overhaul of DDO's pricing strategy, perhaps lowering monthly fee and geting it back with micro transactions like more character slots and more bank slots etc.

Another suggestion, for the purpose of test builds, would be downloading the Risia client. Thats where I do most of my toon testing. As long as you had a character with the 1750 favor prior to the last character update on Risia, you'd be set. If you come up with a build that you really like, you can then backburner it til new slots are available, or take the plunge and delete one of your existing...

I am not deleting a character to make one, but the next character slot I get, it's gonna be a cleric.

Come on Turbine! Do it for all of those Zergers out there! who NEED clerics!

We don't get development updates any more, so my bet is you won't get a response to this until marketing gives it to a fan site.
