Er... I'm going to go ahead and say a 2pt tome on your prime stat at 16th level is worth a lot more than 4 pts. To raise 30 to 32 would cost, what, approximately 10 pts?
Some toons with Cow in the name, and some without.
Love it Love it Love it I like the special quest thing good idea.
Peace and Love your friend Xalted Vol
It´s all summed up here...
The last thing I want to deal with (at any quest level IF and when I PUG) is people´s 28Pt 1st toon (The Rogue with INT 8 and or the Paladin with STR 10, etc...)
Just be happy you can play them without a "28 Pt Tag" over their head...the only really acceptable (if built somewhat well 28Pt. Classes are Barbarians & Clerics pretty much.)
"Multi-Classing: If you don't know what you are doing...please don't do it."

When the cabal trap had the insane high search dc and disarm. my 28 pt rogue was able to disarm it. INfact all he needed was either a GH or bard buffs. And before they changed it there was only three or four other rogues that could search.disarm it and they where all 32 point build and needed both gh and the bard buff. So if your gimp it your build
That's a selfish attitude. Because you suffered we all have to suffer? I don't see anything wrong with giving current 28pt characters 4 extra points. I mean it was that character that worked their arses off to get the favor, why can't they get the reward themselves.
Are you mad because it was a waste of time to have to roll a new character and get the uber gear all over again? This is a video game, playing it is a complete waste of time. You played your 28pt character and hopefully had a good time playing it. Then you played your 32pt char and hopefully had a good time playing it too. It should all be fun. If it's not don't play. No one forced you to reroll.
If like someone else said 4 points don't really make a difference, why would you reroll a new character to get the 4 extra points and abandon you current uber geared 28pts build?
*shrug*
28-point builds get a +2 Tome of your choice for free, which, depending on which stat you bump, is equivalent to an 8+ character-point bump, much better than 4 lousy creation points. And, the +2 tome was a later addition, because Turbine didnt originally have that benefit; when you got 1750 favor, all you GOT was the benefit to create a 32-point build. The addition of the +2 tome was from an outcry on the boards, and this argument has already happened MANY times, honest!
Whether this game is a waste of constructive RL time, or not, doesn't mean people consider their time playing it, as equivalent to just being an air-to carbon dioxide conversion system. I work very hard at my job, so I can spend my recreation the way I want, and to simply mark off my months of time earning the right to create enhanced characters in a game, is very insulting. The 32-point build is an achievement a lot of us are proud of attaining, and to simply hand them out to those who havent put the time, energy and effort into it, is an insult as well. If Turbine hands out 32-point characters, I want a refund of the year it took me to get that character 1750 favor (in the early days when 95% of the quests had to be done on elite to get it, 1750 favor was for elitists only)
It's true, it's all pixels, so why be attached? Unfortunately, it is also one of the only ways we have a visual reminder of the good times, bad times, and difficult times of playing. To lose all of that and start again sux, but the chance to play a favored character, make some different choices (monk for me), and see what happens THIS time, with even a slight enhancement such as 4 additional build points, is worth the effort.
The favor system was put in place because the game was hit so hard by the player base, it all but devoured all of the content in the first few months. People started asking why have normal, hard, and elite, if all you have to do is complete everything on normal, and you have experienced 100% of what the game had to offer? Turbine's response was the favor system. The favor system wasn't here from day one, although I'm sure it was a feature half-developed, and quickly introduced because of the outcry.
All-in-all the favor system helped keep DDO interesting and a challenging part for players new, as well as veterans.
Just consider 1750 favor a big badge of honor, and get out there and earn it. You'll be proud you did, just like the rest of us.
Wisdom is having the experience of being on both sides of the fence, for the view.

You know, I really don't care one way or the other if Turbine decides to give 28pt builds a bump up or not. But this argument about they get a free +2 tome, to me anyway, is not a valid one. Why? Because 32pt builds get that same tome when/if they get favor. It is NOT specific to 28pt builds.
I never gave about getting to 400 favor. I was looking at my highest level character's patron log one day and said "Geez, I have 400 favor." I had made jokes in the past like "Only 78 favor to Drow!".
I made a Drow. He's interesting enough, and it did open up new RP possibilities. I can't see a 32-point build opening up new RP possibilities. "Drow" has both RP benefits and mechanical benefits. I see only mechanical benefits for a 32-point build. So I really don't care. So much for "you'll be proud you did just like the rest of us." When I happen to look at someone's bio which has all the stats for their 32-point build, I roll my eyes and say, in my head, to him or her "Your mother must be so proud."
A friend has been at 400 favor for a while and still has not made a Drow AFAIK.
I'd like the option to build 24-point characters.

At the time this was coded into the game, +2 tomes were the OMG you got what!?! of the game.
Right now they are not so much......
If turbine can code into the game that 28-pointers can get them, but 32-pointers get nothing at 1750 favor except a badge for the achievement (no in-game benny), I'm cool with that.
But who's to say 32-points build are the end? what if 3000 total favor lends for a 36or 38-point build in the future? This is a constantly developing system, changes are gonna happen, and I'd hate to see this argument happen ALL over again, with animosity between the 32-pointers and the 36-pointers, with the 28-pointers chiming in all of the time........

But can't tomes be found other places as well? Even by those character built with 32pts? I would have no with them giving +2 tomes for those who unlocked their character back when the rewards wasn't there.
That is not what the OP suggested though. He said give 4 points to the characters who have grinded their way to 1750 favor and often sit there unused after that because people see their 32pt character as superior (whether they are or not is a different issue imo).
And the game is a waste of time in the sense that by playing you are not getting smarter, or healthier (although you can argue mental health), or wealthier. You do have the right to enjoy your time out of work, as I do. But seeing anything you do in the game as a life acheivement I think might be exagerated.
People arguing against the op don't seem to be looking at the other side of the fence. They dont even realize that if they had no deleted their character, they would be on the same side of the fence. They are saying no just because someone wouldn't have to suffer the same as they did. Imagine going to the hospital and being denied a cure for something because "well you know, way back when, people used to die from this and it's not fair that we cure you now when those people didn't have this opportunity".
And then someone else argues that "we don't want your first char that hit 1750 favor running quests with us cus that character is gimped". Did you know that your 1750 favor char does not have to be your first character? That's something to consider.
I said it before, I'll say it again:
If your 28pt is gimped, your 32pt reroll will be too.
4pts do not make or break a build.
