tired of 'give me stuff' people

okay, so I logged on argo the other day....and was doing some character maintanence. One toon to the other, backpack stuff and mailing.

Each mailbox I was at, in each house I was at, when I logged in their was some 'a$$' that would sned me a tell saying 'i am new, give me some money' and then open a trade window.

4 different people spamming at the mailbox.

Not only that the 4th one opened the trade window and my client crashed. Logged back in and he did it again.

So spam, crash attack, I do not know...have not been to argo since (about a week)

yea, sent a harrasment thing, but never got an answer..

is this normal over here now? Really is lame.

I agree it is rather lame.
I've been on Argo since right around Beta and I've never experienced the begging as you have just relayed.
But I have had players that know me, come and ask for plat because I've been known to pass plat out to server refugees.
But this has been very Rare....

Early last year there was a scammer running around trying this to get people's $. I never pass out cash if it is asked for.

Not trying to crash an Argo thread, but I'm on Khyber and this happens to me ALL THE TIME.

I'm almost more offended by the Virtual Panhandlers then the real ones.

Never had this happen to me on Argo. I recently created a new toon on Thelanis, who is level 4 atm, and someone opened up an LFM, saying that they had a gold problem in the harbor. No clue what that meant, but they were standing near the mailbox in the harbor, might have been doing the same thing. LFM was taking down 15-20 minutes after.

I've had it happen three times since I started... and one of the guys was guilded with a major guild so I let their guild know.

I don't give out money to beggers....

Now in quest if there is a new player who is doing their best and could use a little help, i"m happy to pass on a nice weapon we find, give them some pots, or otherwise give them a leg up.

LOL, along time ago I had a guildie that was like that. He expected everybody to give him stuff, to do quests for him to flag him for everything. And then *****ed whined and complained about it when people didn't bend over, spread wide, AND smear the vasoline for him. He's still around I think saw him not too long ago in giant hold spamming general chat begging for dragon scales.

But in asnwer to the poster about totally unknowns asking for thigns.. Yep, it's been happening to me a lot more lately.... I just ignore them.

It reminded me of a pan handler, I simply replied LOL, and then /deathed to get myself back to Meridia.

Zing! **** not going to live that one down. In this case I was on my non-umd ranger so I just had to suck it up and recall. I did see all sorts of new gamers in the lower harbor though with names like hjgjkk, gjhkkoiuou, and asdfsdg standing around doing nothing <except spamming tells to everyone in the game>.

Same thing happened to me in Argo this past weekend.

After seeing this persons guildtag, I'm about 99.9% sure that it was a little kid.

Doesn't excuse the behavior, but it did make me simply send a tell saying " that's rude " after disabling trades in my options, instead of the verbal lashing I'd have given an adult.

I have been asked atleast 6 times Argo since we merged. depending on the politeness of the person ( ie says hello and asks nicely once without pestering) i have given items of moderate (+2 flaming mace type items) use but never cash. And usually the person has been thankful ( excited noob who has a glowy weapon) the 2 times i have given anything to a beggar. That doesnt count an adolesent former guildy who whined and complained about his gear one day only to brag about the leet lootz on his other acct that his mom canceled lol.

Sounds like you need to go to an out of the way mailbox. I only give away stuff after I'm done questing with someone if they ask.

I've had it happen twice and one of the times, the guy was with a major guild (or at least one I'd seen around a lot). Wonder if it was the same one? He wanted 70k plat to buy a weapon. I said no and that I was going to let one of their officers know. He scarpered pretty quickly.
