Default Anyone else use the silver amulet from LotD?

The fully upgraded silver amulet from the Litany of the Dead series is extremely powerful... equal to most raid loot...

    Deathblock (constant, can't be dispelled)
10 charges of Neg Energy Absorption
Protection From Evil (constant, can't be dispelled).

I just started running the Hound raid, and I hear a lot of people stating "Neg levels! Need a restoration"... And I've seen people getting dominated by the mindflayers...

Both of my melees immediately swap to the silver amulet whenever I see a beholder or a mindflayer.. Beholders, especially, don't scare me at all anymore... Mindflayers still make me nervous... Is there anyway to defend against that mind blast (Besides, attacking them from behind, tripping, stunning, etc.)

Is this an item that most of you use? How come more people don't have it on when heading into a beholder area? It does mean you have to take off your normal neck slot item... Which has a lot of other nice options (CON stat item, protection items, etc.)... I've been slowly working towards getting that neck slot freed up so that I can wear the silver amulet without losing something else important... (Need to get my Mineral II cloak finished so I can free up both my helmet and necklace slot).

Side note... I've been told that the +2 resistance/protection from Protection From Evil stacks with other resistance, protection items. Is that true?

Yep, my amulet never comes off actually. It has saved me probably more times than I am even aware of.

What I like.... is when you finish a tough fight with a couple of beholders, and then you look down and see you only have 3 charges left on the amulet...

You just know you dodged some serious **** there, even if you have no idea what was cast at you.

Not true. It provides situational non-stacking resistance/deflection bonus.

I have it on most of my characters. I usually only wear it when confronting beholders. But my rogue recently pulled a +5 protection cloak, which means he doesn't need to wear his old protection necklace. So the Silver Flame amulet is now standard equipment.

    Globe of invulnerability...

Most people don't have the amulet because it can be a pain to fully upgrade, no one seems to like the Litany quests. And the protection from evil resistance does not stack with other resistance or protection items.

The Resistacne Does indeed stack. The Protection may not, but I suspect it does. Theres no way to check evil Mobs to hit accuratly.

Take not of your Saving throws with it on and off. Nothing shows up in your character sheet of course because its situational.

I wear it on almost all my characters with the exception being my rogue. Since I really wanted fearsome in the necklace slot I spent quite some time tracking down eye of the beholder just to replicate some of the affects of the silverflame talisman.

    The protection does not.

Allow an evil monster to attack you hundreds of times until you observe he's hitting you 3 times per 20 swings. Apply the Protection from Evil and see if his hits decrease to 1 time per 20 swings.

Supposedly if a monk uses Enduring Strike II, Fists of Light, and Enduring Strike I, nearby allies become immune for ~30 seconds. I haven't really tested.

    Default Yep

Use it on most of my toons, and exception is the emerald claw equivalent on my rogues. Can do all the upgrading 1/2/3 in the 5th part of the 3rd set, while farming for scourge chookers by the way.

You sure about that? Per the spell description...

"At your touch, a magical barrier is created that wards a target from attacks by evil creatures, granting a +2 deflection bonus to AC and a +2 resistance bonus to saves against attacks from evil creatures. The target is also warded from magical mental control and compulsions."

As it provides a resistance bonus it shouldn't be stacking with other resistance bonuses...If it is I'd strongly suspect its currently bugged. Can't do any testing right now, stuck at work. Will look at it when I get home tonight.

It does not provide a resistance bonus; the description is wrong.

Protection from Evil (and Protection from Chaos, plus presumably Protection From Good) provide what I call a "creed" bonus to saving throws. It stacks with any other bonus except creed.

Anyone can easily test this by casting Nightshield and Protection from Evil at the same time. When an evil monster casts a spell on you, your saving throw will apply a bonus +2 higher than what is shown on your character sheet.

Get a Monk in your party.
They can do Earth-Pos-Earth buff which grants immunity to Stun (the only class that gives a Stun immunity buff, I might add.)

Although it is now much easier to upgrade since you can do both the second and third tier in the last quest in the third series. And can have someone open that for the group.

I can verify that the monk finishing move Grasp of the Earth Dragon prevents Mind Blast (as recommended above) from Mindflayers and it is also unable to be dispelled.
