    Default halfling carrying capacity

    I have never had a halfing character and am toying with some ideas for one. What have been people's experience with a halfling's ability to carry around all his stuff. I am thinking of going 2hf and this means a lot of weapons. What do I need to know about this when planning a new character?

    Thanks!

    If Your Maxing Strength You Should Never Have A Problem, My Halflings Dont;

    30Str(Allegaince) 26Str(Untouchable) 14Str(Huckabie)

    Even On The 14Str Sorcerer I Never Get The "Encumbered" Message Unless He's Got Lots Of Str Damage.

    Anything under 15 str can have carrying problems (especially a weighty 2weapon fighter's backpack o' weapons), but if you are planning on having over 20, you dont need to worry about it.

    It's mostly a problem if you start with a low strength (less than 12) and then get hit with a ray of enfeeblement, particularly at low levels when you don't have a lot of options for increasing your stats. You can even get overloaded and helpless when this happens, which is a very, very dangerous thing. Start with a strength of at least 12 (14 if you want to wear plate armor) and get strength boosting items or tomes as soon as possible and you should be fine, however.

    If your Str is under 16 you'll want to leave full plate in the chest. Otherwise you're fine.

    There is No Message if you get "Medium" Emcumbered. Only Heavy. Medium Emcumbered imposes some significant penalties that I suspect a LOT of halflings are running around with wiout realizing it.

    On a STR Build THFer speced halfling, it will never be an issue though.

    Yeah. Medium load = halved dex bonus to ac. Which is, to say, bad for a high dex build.

    But a monk's stuff is so light that even at 8 or 10 str a halfling should never hit medium encumberance.

    I just leave all armor in chests, or transfer it to someone else. I guess if he found +5 mfp he'd deign to pick it up.... but it's mithril so how heavy would that be anyway....
