Can someone tell me if a high-speed Satellite Internet connection is sufficient for playing DDO? The service being offered says the following:
0.5 Mbps Download Speed
128 Kbps Upload Speed
Is that enough???
Thanks.

you will typically see more latency issues with satalite than you would with a land line

I played via satellite until about a month ago. When it was working, I was from a half a second to a second behind the rest of the party. That caused minor problems, but I lived with it for nearly 2 years as I really had no choice. Recently my satellite company instituted a so called "Fair Use Policy". After that playing became impossible. The problem is that if you do any significant uploading or downloading (and this game does), your latency increases as the company restricts your bandwidth. So I went from being from being a 1 to 2 second delay to delays of up to 30 seconds. That meant I froze in place and died a lot. Furthermore, DD) does not support satellite connections, so you get limited technical help. (Part of the problem became more severe during an update that ironically was to fix the lag issue). I was lucky as DSL became available in my area. So my advice
1. Find out about Fair use Policy before you go satellite.
2. Ask if it supports MMO playing.
Then you can make the best decision.
P.S. I was even considering playing 1 night a week at work, before I realized I now could get DSL.
Sigmoid makes some excellent points. A Satellite connection can be touch and go with DDO, more then likely you'll experience some type of latency (hopefully bearable) with this type of connection. If they do have any Fair Use or Packet Shaping policies in place however, then DDO will probably be almost unplayable.
