Heh, was in a reaver raid last night and the topic of a D sighting came up. He's *that* famous!

I always thought that he wasn't a bad player or a bad person, just that he needed to calm down and ease up on the mic a little. I'd group with him.
You may know me as: Gannot, Gonnet, Gunnet, Ginnet, Gaxxat, Gennot, Gannut, Gxnnxt, Horseface, Izzayhay, Pailmaster, Artifactual, Gynnet and/or Barred. What? I like alts.

Not naming names on the forum. If you want I'll PM his name, or there is another thread with his name. Tharashk old timers know because he was from there. He's like 8 years old with a two second attention span. But he will give you the robe off his back if he could.

I dunno, my mothering coming into play, but I think, especially with the Tharashkians, that it is a moral responsiblity to make sure he is treated well. I didn't treat him well in the past, as for the rest of the server, and banned him. But maybe I have learned my lesson about treating everyone fairly and objectivily. Maybe I care. Maybe, I dunno, I think everyone deserves a second chance, especially a kid.

He if is willing to put forth the effort, I am willing to return that to him. Wouldn't we like the same treatment?

    Default D

D is a famous charecter in the game a legend if you will. He is a kid that almost no one wanted to group with. Hopefully this thread in the game will change that. I would tell you who he is but then it would close the thread.

    Well said.

Nobody is asking you to invite him on all your raids or anything, just cut him some slack and maybe try grouping with him. If it doesn't go well, just part ways.

Count me in. But not on any really long quests, where a wipe means total failure. And I don't promise not to squelch him.

Very good of you and if any of my characters were of proper level on Thelanis I would join in to help but all of mine here a bit to low as I only play here rarely, so many characters and so many wonderful people across several servers and so little time.

Still trying to get that Mother Hen forum title?

I thought he was 12, btw, maybe 13 at this point.

In any case, I'll help out as well.

You know whats really EXTREMMLY sad...

ADULTS TELLING A KID HE/THEY NEED TO ACT LIKE AN ADULT when playing "your" ddo game!!!!

let him be a kid, let him be loud, let him play and forlick. BECAUSE you all know you would give about anything to be his age again. Dont force him to grow up to have fun in a VIDEO GAME.

This is a game and like it or not despite the "player base age" this game i not marketed or targets to just adults here. This is not your game as much as it is his game. Now go pay some bills and take out your adult frustrations on your own kids.

A kid that wants to play _with_ adults in this game still needs to conform to certain party etiquette. The real issue is usually no one takes the time to educate them on what that is exactly.

I've found most kids to be capable players if you have the patience to work with them as the OP and others in here are doing. It's good to hear you guys helping him out

as for "forlick"ing.. that would be his own business.

so on the box the age limit or suggestion was 18+/21+ strange we must have got different game boxes.

its actully rated "teen" so we can argue you are to old to be playing

    TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.

as for the minimum age, that's why I said kids (and many 'adults') need to conform to certain norms if they expect to play with the rest of the population.

I see what your saying mate. And agree to a point. But you also have to take into consideration. This is a video game. It is rated teen not adult. if it was meant to be a place to act like an adult it would be rated as such. You also have to take into consideration since the beginning of video games they have been marketed (for the most part) for younger people. They are not meant to be a place for adults to come into and be all grown up. its kind an oxymoron to demand maturity in a video game.

You cant expect a 13 year old to act all grown up. No matter how you try and "school" them. If you have kids you would know this. You can however expect civility and politeness.

In my day we did not have video games we had "out side". Kids are kids and have an energy and a mind set that cant be oppressed and in the times we live in kids are not out waisting energy playing baseball in the summer they are on video games sharing time with adults. maturity comes with age. And the way I see it video games are there territory. Adults have just kinda pushed there way in, in the last few years.

I have followed some of the previous discussion about D. The last thread i saw was actually really sad - it was from his buddy who was upset cuz his friend had left the game because no one would play with him. I applaud all of you who are helping this guy out. I know he and his friend are thrilled.

There are many people in this game of ALL AGES who can be annoying or irritating or just no good. Most players play this game to accomplish something and to enjoy themselves, and when another player, REGARDLESS OF AGE, impedes that accomplishment or enjoyment over and over again, folks don't group with them anymore. So to me, this isn't a matter of people telling a kid not to be a kid, it's people letting a fellow player know the proper etiquette for playing the game so he won't be on everyone's blacklist. It's actually a good lesson for D and anyone else. While we all like to be oursleves and no one likes his/her individualtiy surpressed, there are times for all of us when we must conform to an accepted norm if we are to flourish in a cooperative environment. And the great thing about DDO is that it allows for all of it - Creativity, Individualism, Cooperation, and Teamwork! It's a good place for a young person (hell it even teaches you some math!!!) Interestingly, if this were an adult who had this reputation, I wonder if folks would be so keen on helping them out and giving them another shot...

But because it is a kid, imagine how much it means to him to have a bunch of cool, older folks giving him a shot at hanging out with them. It would have meant a lot to me when I was that age...Really nice, Thelanis! Sun War Academy on Ghallanda Salutes You!

What is this "outside" you speak of? Anyway, this thread meant well, but it was rather inappropriate given the known history of such forum topics. I would be more than happy to see this thread deleted rather than a bunch of adults gossiping about a teen. For shame. Cube, where are you?
