that is what I like to call a dying LCD screen.

Is it toast.. not certain. Try un hooking your video cable completely and then re atach it on both ends. LCD and Computer. Then also blow it out. Dust will gather so they may need to be blown out.

could be your back light or the invertor for the back light, going out... can be repaired but that is a pain.

Good God man! Step away from the computer! It's a rip in the space-time continuum and it's gonna suck you in!

The weight of all those icons on your desktop has weakened it.

figure out how wear and tear from aging happens and how to stop it, then you'll have your answer.

Honest asnwer is old age. It was used and those are its age wrinkles. It is not a defect like lines of pixles going dead.

That or stop thumping on the screen so much.

Well, I must say I have several LCD Monitors that are over 3 Years old and have never seen that particular issue..... I would say its more of a Manufacturing defect thats gotten worse over time. But since its out of warranty now, theres nothing he can do about it.

Its just bad luck. Nothing he did and nothing he could of prevented.

This is clearly a bank slot issue for each of your characters. This happens when you have over 3/4 of you bank slots full. Wounding of Puncturing and Power 5 weapons seem to make this worse. What I would recommend is mailing 1/4 of all of you bank items and especially any w/p items to rawfocat on Argonnessen.

Note: No really it is a hardware defect and you are most likely out of luck.

    Default Easy solution...

I think it's a natural reaction to not having your DDO icon on the desk top!

What the heck is this called? These lines running down my Dell 1905fp monitor. It's 2 years old, and is confusing the heck outta me.

I would at the very least have a back up monitor for whn this one finally dies...and it should be soon.
You can get a good one cheap.....

Or you can play with it and take hours of reading forums and trying out tons of stuffs for weeks til it does die.

My guess is all your time and frustration is worth a 100 bucks for a replacement and back to gaming without worrying.

    just my opinion.

Its internal on the monitor. changing cables or drivers will have no affect. Its time to get a new one. It will be cheaper then paying someone to fix it.
Do you leave you PC on 24-7? if so its not good for the monitor or the PC even with a screen saver or hibernation.

turn it off when your not using it. The inconvenience in booting it up far out weighs the price to replace something.

Have you tried changing your refresh rate?

I've seen similar occurances when the monitor is too close to flourescent lights. Changing the refresh rate out of the normal range fixed it, if that's what is causing it.

Exactly. Those are wrinkles from the screen image being squished onto the limited surface area.

Not all the way thru the thread yet, but plugging into another comp should have been one of the first checks.

Actually, PC's are much better off being left on 24/7 as long as they are in a Clean temprature controlled enviroment. The Green Function of your monitor effectivly cuts power to 95% of the monitor in its standby mode. The Surge created when the system is turned on is far more damaging to the sensetive PC Componants than leaving it idle.

Most LCD Monitor so indeed have just 1 refresh rate. Not until recently have we started seeing some capable of 120Hz as apposed to the traditional 60Hz.

LCD also does not burn in. It may ghost, but its always correctable.

On a CRT sure, but not on a flat pannel.
