i've been running into an issue where people are squelched within the party i'm in that are not on my squelch list. does squelch affect all characters under a user's account or just that particular character?

    Yes Tolero

Chat appears to be working correctly, but friends are not listed that are online or they go online then disappear even when in group with them and squelched people are showing up on friends list, but you are unable to remove them.

For example I will see 10 people online in my guild list. All 10 of these people are in my friends list YET my friends list says they are all offline. NOTE none of them are anon I've asked.

Example 2: My husband and I will login for a few hours of game time. About an hour into the session I am informed through my friends list that he has just logged in. Shortly after that about 10 mins or so I am told he has logged off.

Example 3: I will add someone to my friends list and make a note. Everything seems ok. If I check a few minutes later they no longer appear in the list even if they are standing right in front of me.

Example 4: I sort my friends list showing only those online. A guildmate comes on I do not see on the list so I add them to friends. I am told their entry was updated even though they had not appeared on my list. I change to viewing all and they do not appear in the friends list even though they were just confirmed.

Example 5: A cleric in my guild mentioned just last night that his friends list has been replaced by his squelch list.

Example 6: occassionally I will log in and I have no friends

Note: I have no one squelched. Perhaps the squelch list and friends list have gotten messed up somehow so they are linked together when they should not be.

My entire guild just ignores the friends list now and doesn't use it anymore. Since the guild list seems to be behaving now we are using that and when curious if someone outside of guild is online we use the Who list.
    Ditto...

Not only am I having the same issues as Talish, but also people that I deleted long, long ago from my friends list are now popping back up when they log on. When I go to remove them I get a msg that they are not in my friends list. So then starts the routine of adding them just to delete them again. Another interesting tidbit... I have ppl that I've never heard of popping up in my friends list. The only thing I can figure out is that they are alts of ppl that are in my friends list. But I don't think I like that function either. Sometimes I want to go hide on my lowbie, where no one knows it's me and no one will bother me.

    Tolero:

Chat is working perfectly now. Thanks for the fix on that one.

On the other hand, the Friends List is still bugging out from time to time. Generally, a friend will appear offline in the Friends List but be in the same party as me, or just online in general.

Also; my Squelch List will sometimes be transferred to my Friends List. The only way to get them off the Friends List is to:

    1) Add them and remove them.
    2) Click their name, hit Update, then remove them.

Either option removes them from your Squelch List as well, so you have to re-add them to your Squelch List immediately after.

It's pretty annoying, to say the least.

    Tolero:

Yes, my friends list acts funny. Sometimes a friend will log in and show up online on the friends list and immediately be put offline by the friends list, but I know that they are still online. Also seen some that never show up on my friends list even thought they are online. Could this be an issue with Anonymous settings maybe??

I am still having trouble with guild chat sometimes not showing login messages when someone logs into the channel. They're then not able to chat in guild channel either until they log in another character. Was this supposed to have been addressed with the chat server update? I have at least one other friend (that I'm aware of) with the same issue.

Friends & Ignore lists still messed up. I'll add someone to the squelch list, and they pop up in the friends list - can't remove them either since the game returns an "invalid" command.

The 'Friends list' has become the 'people who may or may not be my friends who may or may not be logged in at this time list'

Yeah, I've had a few problems with the Friends list but for me it's just a minor annoyance.

I could not remove them, because they were not really o nmy list. So I added them manually, and then removed them and it seemed to work. Have you treid that to these characters?

Default Re: Friends List is Bugged?

Glad to see that Turbine is looking at this issue. I care deeply about the social aspects of the game -- I am the exact opposite of a solo player.

Known problems on my end include:

-- People added to the friends list of one character now frequently appear on the friends list of another character -- meaning also that with a new lowbie character I get "Your friend so-and-so has logged on" when that is a friend on my level 14 character.

Let me clarify that I had tried using 'import-export' to achieve just this result, to keep in closer touch with some friends, but now I am noticing the list behavior itself has changed, to where the old friends list is showing up on a brand-new character.

Also, I mentioned the friends list file is viewable in the game folder. I went back and checked mine -- noticed that it had changed from a .ini file to a .txt file. So I deleted it and then used my main to 'export' again. Voila ... the game re-created the list in its proper .ini file. I think that I am noticing *less* problems since, but a lot of the strange behavior is still there.

I also discovered how -- at least on my computer with my settings -- you *delete* friends! It is not enough to highlight the individual friend entry and press the delete button -- the highlighting goes away and the entry stays. What works in my case is if you highlight with the left mouse button, re-affirm your selection with the right mouse button (then the highlighting stays put), then press the delete button, then you apparently get a successful deletion.

So I then deleted my master friends list down to below 100 persons ... I deleted only those entries that appeared to be malfunctioning -- entries with no class symbols, no character levels, etc. -- entries with fields missing in the list. This brought my list below 100, and all current entries seem to be behaving normally.

What really appears to be missing is a Turbine explanation somewhere in the game documentation of *exactly* how we can expect the friends list features to work -- what exactly import / export are for, etc. That's my two cents.

Also ... I have never squelched anyone so I don't have problems with squelched individuals showing up. That should be attended to if it's happening. What if a parent squelches someone who has been behaving inappropriately during their kid's play? Turbine will surely prioritize this.

Thanks to Turbine for always deeply caring about its player community. Goes way back to AC1, where I and many friends were Advocates, Sentinels, etc., -- player volunteers concerned with gameplay and the community experience.

Is it just me, as my friends list still does not show whether or not people are grouped. I can sort buy grouping and they sort correctly, but the icon never shows up in the column if they are indeed grouped.

But I do not get the delayed login messages anymore, or haven't since the patch was implemented. Thanks for fixing that!

Yeah, there may still be a few kinks yet to iron out - such as the online/offline status for some users, so any issues you're still experiencing please make sure you've submitted a bug report. Commonly if you or your friend die, it seems to impact the online/offline status. Friends List: "Ah ha! Your friend has died; they can't possibly be online, for they're a soul stone now!"

Same. I use Friends almost entirely for keeping track of people who I DONT want to play with, and their alts, and the notes for why.
