character move?

Hello All,

If anyone knows roughly how long it takes for a server move on a character (had friends talk me into swapping after a year hiatus) and I applied this morning for it before heading off to work. My question is twofold: About how often do they run the "copy" script, and do they email/notify you of it's completion?

ive done two so far, none took longer than 48 hours. (both were within monday to friday range same as you).

They will send you a confirmation email when move is complete and your character is active.

A: A Character Transfer is when Turbine moves or relocates a character from one world to another. If your character currently resides on Argonnessen and you would like to play with your friends on Khyber we would perform a Character Transfer from Argonnessen to Khyber.

Q: Do I get to bring my items to the new server?
A: Yes, all equipped, inventory, and bank items will be ported to the new server.

A: No you do not need to be logged into the GAME, but YES you do need to be logged out of the character we are transferring. If you log in at any time between the time you submit the request and Customer Service sends you the confirmation of completion, Turbine will not be held responsible for any data corruption or loss due to player negligence.

Q: Will all characters on my account be transferred to the new server, or just one?
A: No. One character = One fee. If you choose to do so you may transfer additional characters for an additional fee.

Now, for a separate question: Can you move back? It says "moves are irreversible" somewhere when you're filling out the form, but, it doesn't really say if you can pay again or not. I'm assuming so... I mean, what company doesn't want money? Copying one file/folder from one computer to another nets them nearly 2 months game play fees. But... does anyone know for certain?

The reason for the question: When shopping before I moved, and on the new server, I noticed that the auction house isn't as full on one server as it is another. This may ultimately prove that the population is lower... it may not. In time, that could effect if I want to stay there, or if I talk my friends into joining me on a more popular server.

I would assume that if you are willing to pay for the move, there wouldn't be an issue. The transfer of information from one server to another is a fairly simple thing to do. I've done it on Counter Strike dozens of times (granted, CS has much less to keep track of and thus much less info).

Not exactly sure how the favor thing works....but getting even one more favor point and talking to the Drow guy should work.

I think the policy says about 48 hours and you can't move the same char for three months.

I've done a few. One took a little while do to holidays, weekends, and some server issues/upgrades.
But generally they have been very fast.

They went very well, and transfered every item in my backpack and bank.

Looks like I'm good:

"Your World Character Transfer is now complete. We have billed your account a charge of $24.95.

Upon logging into your new world, you may see that your name has been changed to include hyphen and a number (such as, if your character's name was Derf, your character may now be named "Derf-1")."

Aww... I want to be named Derf now!

And I'll try the Favor thing. Ironically, I quit at level 8.4 and logged back in, talked to the DE dude, and was able to make Drow. I'll try to make one (I want a different rogue build, anyway) and post what is required (if anything) to try and have a comprehensive Q/A post on char moves.

Anything else you want me to try with the account after the move?

For the record, I was able to make a Drow ONLY after I talked to the guy. I didn't have to go get any further favor.

If you move someone with 1750 favor that favor moves with you and you unlock the 32 point build. Not only that but If that's the only toon you have with 1750 favor on your original server, you still have access to 32 point builds after the move. I know this cause I've moved toons between Thelanis and Ghallanda (and back again) a few times.
