I am glad to hear they are planning on implementing a crafting system I hope it's not modeled after World of Warcraft's crafting system. I hope the items are useful and make sense. I understand EQII had a really good crafting system when the game first came out.

Edit: Thanks for posting this courderoyguy.

I am also glad to see that the developer's are very active in expanding this game. I have been away from this game for over a year and half and I very much appreciate the changes that have been made. Honestly I can not think of a single change I don't like.
I am hoping - and thinking - that the crafting system will be largely based on the successful prototype of Shroud Crafting... I don't see why they would do something completely different for the "full" crafting. Maybe we'll see crafting shops in all the major locations with the eldritch devices in the shop... common ingredients for sale there, along with the right power cells.... rarer ingredients maybe in certain quests or outdoor areas. More logical recipes would be good.. like "straight twig + lump of steel + feathers + powercell = 100 returning arrows" add in " + soul gem : strong Fire" to get Flaming burst returning arrows. oooh... would love to see a Icy Burst bow shooting flaming burst arrows... LOL... Have a shock, Icy Burst bow shooting flaming arrows now... very nice when they don't have blanket immunities to everything.... hate the white "0"s

With all due respect, what is up with the constant comments about guacamole? I thought each Turbine rep would have something game related and interesting too add to the interview?

Looks like there is not going to be a level cap increase, according to this interview.

[18:30] zigzag: *Fantasma* when is lvl cap increase?
[18:30] Eladrin: Our goal is to have it by the end of the year.

Going to be lots of bored people if that is the case. I thought they would have learned that long periods of time between level cap raises is never a good thing.

[18:21] Eladrin: Half Orcs are the next race that's currently planned, we expect the first half of '09. The Druid is on our list as the next class.

That'll be 3+ years, optimistically, to get half-orcs in the game.

At this point we have 1 new class and 1 new race (a minimal recoloring of elves at that) in 2+ years. Yawn.

    Talking For the record...

[18:53] zigzag: *DDOcast* Question: (on behalf of Rowanheal): Any more plans to add pink armor styles and monk robes?
    [18:53] Keeper: Woo, pink!
[18:55] Tolero: For the record, if I pull any pink armor/clothing, it's totally getting given away -_- Though I do have a pink docent on my Warforged. I call her the Watermellon Forged for that reason
[18:56] Keeper: Hmm. . . I wonder if I could get away with making an all-pink landscape?
    [18:56] Eladrin: Like Gianthold?
    [18:56] Keeper: HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!
[18:56] Piloto: While the popularity of pink armor has been a surprise to many, we will continue to monitor the demand. Once the crafting system goes live, you will be able to dye parts of your armor and monk outfits pink to your heart's content.
[18:56] Keeper: no, that one was purple overload!
[18:56] zigzag: <Tolero> Yes to DDOCast on Pink armor
For the record, you all missed the most important discussion of the evening

And also... oh yummy yummy guacomole...

Awesome chat and thanks Jerry for asking for me as well as posting the chat transcript

    See ya in Stormreach,

Aside from that, a monster model is not a useful basis for a player character model. It's just not very detailed.
    Bold added for emphasis.

The detail can always be added, and the model tweaked. Heck you could take a human body (paint it a green, yellow color) and an orcs head (modified) and make the stat changes and you have your half-orc. The only equipment you would have to test out would be whatever fits with the head. See Half-Orc made and now on to the Gnome.

That would be a nice crafting system. They give you the basics of how to make an item and if you wish to add magical properties then add the following items.

From the dev comments ingredients can come from looted items being deconstructed, and then the ingredients used to create new armor, weapons etc. Phase 1 would not have things like potions and arrows, but they could look at it for phase 2

Incorrect. Apparently you've never designed an articulated 3d model.

You know I felt really gimped by WoW's expansion. I paid $10 less then the actual game and received a lot less, maybe a fourth of what I paid for the actual game.

I like that, and I don't mind things coming out in phases. Ah what to do? Deconstruct an item or sell it? Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!

You are correct sir! I have not designed an articulated 3d model, but I have been around enough to know if it is not possible its only because someone did not have the foresight to program it in. Oh well, I was hoping we could see the big, ugly, green huminoids running around sooner; so we could see the short, yellow, cute gnomes sooner.

[18:40] zigzag: *Ashvirenza* My question is: Question for Piloto and Eladrin: People are bringing up that the monk's DPS does not compare to other classes and it does not attack fast enough to make it a viable stat damager (even if it had a wide choice). What role and what unique feature do you think will set monks apart from other classes and get them spots in groups. Is it solely there extensive utility?
[18:41] Keeper: Monks make the best guacamole.
I can not find craft guacamole on the level up screen. I think you guys left that skill off.

[18:41] Eladrin: We're paying close attention to the debates on the effectiveness of the monk, and will make changes if they prove necessary. The monk is an extremely versatile class and often takes some time to master.
[18:42] Eladrin: This versatility allows the monk the ability to fill many different roles with a tremendous array of build options, especially when one multi-classes.
[18:43] Eladrin: I'm sure that the players will surprise me with what they come up with.

This both excites me and really makes me worry.

I however really hope that the monk does not have to be multiclassed in order to be effective. As a class that was intended in PnP to be a pure class, that really saddens me if that is the case. I was and am looking forward to playing a pure monk, and hope that a splash monk is not a better choice near the upper level play of the game.

Also, I am beginning to hear that monks need to dual wield kamas in order to even try and keep up at higher levels. That really needs to be fixed. Unarmed combat is what a Monk is known for. Allowing TWF to give a monk an additional strike (that, btw seems to be included already in the attack chain) would help some.
