"DDO is doing well too," Mersky said, "It's over two years old which is something to be said for a lot of MMOs." The marketing push we've been hearing about as a possible indicator that DDO may move to consoles partially hinges on new content updates planned for the remainder of the year, he said, both revamps of old content and new content, including new starter experiences.

"It's a good time for that franchise," said Mersky. "Atari has turned itself around, brought in a lot of talented people recently, and we're in active dialog with them to do good things for DDO."

DDO is also set to get Direct X 10 by the summer, Mersky said.
If we are not scheduled to get content for another 4 months(based on the 12 week schedule) then why are we getting an update this summer?

I am low on the Knowledge base for this sort of stuff. Is it possible, if in fact they are going to xbox and ps3, to have them all connect to the current system. what i mean is when they log online they chose which server to play off of,,,,,,can you have pc/xbox/ps3 all playing on thelanis,,,ect at the same time? same internet right? would i pay for xbox live and ddo at the same time?

It is an example of very poor journalism in that it takes two seemingly unconnected items and without any shred of evidence draws a line between them. Its basicallly saying Turbine is hiring a console engineer and they are working on secret stuff for DDO yep thats it, DDO is coming to consoles, there is no link, its pure speculation
You know, the engine being used to create console games could be pretty darn interesting. I'd buy a console game that was made on the DDO engine, if it was a D&D game. I actually think a single player game based on DDO would be pretty awesome. They did that with with Everquest and Champions was pretty fun. I've often thought that if aspects of NWN2 and DDO were blended into a large single player game for consoles and/or PC it'd be an awesome D&D game.

TheMO engine actually sits under the ruleset and really only governs things like graphical options, network traffic between client and server, login, etc, basically the skeleton. To illustrate the point bith LOTRO and DDO share the same MMO engine, and they are completely different games, they are on one version higher than us however and have DX10 support which we will be getting this summer apparently

Be pretty silly to do now since the game is over 2 years old plus many predict the death of the consoles in the not to distant future, mostly likely microsoft and sony will never make their money back on those turkeys. Never have like console gaming even more so for rpgs and fps games keyboard and mouse till I die. Having the game designed to be able to be played on the xbox as well as pc has really limited AoC and makes it much less of a game then it could have been.

Actually Microsoft just started turning a profit on the 360, and Nintendo has been making a profit on every Wii sold since they brought it out. Sony has hurt a lot more because they chose to go blue ray and were a year behind Microsoft. consoles are far from dead, Nintendo has shown that the right gimmick and price point can make you millions. PC's on the other hand are much more costly, notably unstable, and for years have been unable to find a real place in front of the television.

I happen to like my PS3 and it seems far from dead. It is a nice distraction from my 9 year addiction to Turbine's games. I would agree that the PC is best for fps and rpgs though but other games like Lego Star Wars and Indiana jones which i enjoy playing with my son suck on the PC.

PC also dominates RTS, I prefer FPS on PC but enjoy it on console also, 1 benefit FPS has on X-Box360 & PS3 is way less hacks....

However, it doesn't fit into any fun rumors! I've heard that they've taken a look at the future success of Hello Kitty Online and are planning to focus all of their development to My Little Pony Online: Forgotten Realms, where the ponies meet the DnD setting for the first time! Plus, I've heard there will be space lasers and safety messages at the end of each quest, kind of like the old G.I. Joe cartoons from the 80's.

Anyone hear any more news on this?
