Default Firewall Bug report - Incorporal

I apologize if this has been covered already, but no way am I reading every post complaining about the change in Firewall. I have noticed that with incorporal creatures, they will often stand in the middle of the firewall, taking no damage while not rolling for saves. If I catch it again, I'll try and take a screen shot. It tends to happen when they are outside the range of effect, and then come into it. Had it happen with a Wraith and a...think its a Phantom....whatever my avatar is. The simple solution was to "Tab" them into my globe and cast it again, where they took damage.

This happened in the Shadow Lord, I think (the shadow one with lots of swimming), and in the quest just inside the gate of House of J, where you have to kill X amount of dread zombees.

Not complaining, and please refrain from complaints in this thread, just wondering if anyone else has come across this.

    Thanks

Yes, I have seen exactly what you are talking about. The act of an incorporeal phasing into the wall of fire seems to make them not trigger the effects of wall of fire, resulting in them not being hurt.

Interesting. I wonder if it's a failed attempt to fix the "They take full damage every time they phase in while in a wall" problem.

Definitely seeing this as well ... at first I thought it was some kind of multiple firewall bug, but it happens when you cast only one as well.

Just run the orchard once and you'll see it. It's a very repeatable (and extremely annoying) bug.

I've seen this behavior with other mobs that phase in and out and other spells.

Example: round up a bunch of scorpions and cast Cloudkill, most of them will die around the same time but one or more will typically keep running right through the spell and if you examine them it says nothing about cloudkill concealment or poison damage.

Yeah, I don't think its just with firewall and cloudkill either. I had a similar problem with bb in the graverobber (the house j quest the op was talking about with the dread zombies). Put down one maximised, extended bb. Killed all the zombies, except for one who shambled through the circle and back again 4 or 5 times, making no saves and taking no damage.

I note with some annoyance that scorrow and gnoll bb's in the desert seem to work just fine on the party.

Default Hit by spell, but no damage

I saw this in a lot of quests last night. It happened mostly with incorporal creatures such as wraiths, shadows, specters, and umbral, but I saw it happen at least once with Pytan (the zombie in the Orchard).

Normally with firewall, the combat log will generate 2 records - one indicating that the mob was hit by firewall, and the 2nd specifying how much damage was done. I saw a lot of "Creature was hit by firewall", but the 2nd entry was missing completely.

When I was trying this on Pytan, I used a "Flesh To Stone" to keep him immobile, then cast the wall on him. I got about 8-10 of the "Creature was hit by firewall" without damage being dealt, and then without any explanation, he started taking damage (the second entry started showing up). I thought maybe an immune creature in the firewall (like the blackbones, or the boards in his cave) was granting all other creatures in the same firewall immunity, but I was unable to duplicate it later.

I'd love to know what is causing this behavior, and hopefully how to prevent it, assuming it doesn't get fixed soon.

I noticed a strange effect with Acid Cloud. Its like the pathing is screwy. The mobs in Coal Chamber would plow right through the acid cloud taking no damage, then once they were clear on the other side of it, would slow to a crawl as if they were right in the middle of the cloud and start taking the damage. Its almost like the "hitboxes" for the monsters are trailing well behind the mobs while on the move now instead of well in front of them like the used to be. That or the spells graphic animation is going where you aim it, but the effect is in a separate spot.
