    Question Not centered

    Hi All!

I tried to use sun stance and was told that I was uncentered. How do I recenter myself? What caused me to become
    uncentered? I am a monk 1/rogue 1.

    Thanks for the help!

It is important that a Monk remain centered, which means that he does not wear an armor or a shield, is not heavily encumbered, or is not using a weapon that is not a Monk or Ki related weapon such as Kama, Quarterstaves or Shuriken. A warforged monk remains centered as he is in Composite Plating he does not wear a shield. A monk also remains cnetered if he is wearing equipment that gives armor bonuses but that are neither armor nor shield, like Black Widow Bracers.

A non centered monk will not be available to perform these abilities:
    • Fast Movement
    • Slow Fall

Check your armor (have to be robe, or naked)
Check your weapon (have to be kama/quaterstaff/shuriken, or unarmed. No shield of course)
Check your inventory weight (must not encumbered)

    Cool Uncentered

I have a lvl 13 cleric/1 Monk, I don't carry anything but cloth armor and monk friendly weapons, after playing with the lvl of monk the last few days it seems to me there may be a bug in the multi-class monk. I find that mid quest I lose my center at random points, no change in equipment or inventory, then a minute or two later I am suddenly re-centered. Hopefully its a small bug that will soon be fixed. Hope if you couldnt find any other reason for your issue that you are conforted in the fact that you are not alone!

Are you equipping wands/scrolls? Those will uncenter you.

No, I am aware when I use wands and scrolls I lose center so thats not the cause, I have run a few quests specificly to test the issue and find it accures fairly often.

Maybe your strength is too low, or your load is too high.

Yep, just dipping into medium weight will uncenter you.

So its not an overload that uncenters but just a mid-load in your pack? Well thats a bit foolish but Ill make sure to equip myself a +6 str item and see if that solves the issue, thanks for the input.

    Hi All!

Thanks to those who responded. The problem was trying to use a 1 handed club or mace. Club was listed as monk weapon, but,
it left me uncentered. Hope it was a bug.

Although monks are proficient with clubs, they are not a preferred weapon & will uncenter you. I recommend quarterstaves for the mucks & such.
Now about a muck bane quarter staff ...

my monk fvs multi was hit by non centered bug partway through a quest. took off all items and equipement. wasnt suffering any negative spells.

    still uncentered.

went to the inn and pvp naked, died, resurecterd, still uncentered.

logged out for 2 hours, still uncentered .

Ray of Enfeeblements normally uncenter me. Nothing encumbers you faster than getting hit for 20 points of strength damage.

Ray of enfeeblement usually makes me helpless and dead in short order.

No offense, but most of the things people complain about as "bugs" in this game are player error, not bugs.
I'd wager you picked up an item that pushed your carried weight across the medium encumbrance threshold.

How about you go to a vendor sell all the loot you picked up in quest and/or heavy quest item objects that dont drop on exiting the adventure and I am willing to bet you will be cured.

And THATS why my monk carries potions of lesser restore...

Things that will make you go uncentered

    Carrying a Moderate Load
    Carry non-centered monk weapons
    Armor
    Body Armor feats from Warforged.

The first one is the USUAL culprit for suddenly becoming uncentered, RoE and str damaging mobs (IE Shadows) and other spells that lower strength (even poison) can help this happen. The secondary cause would be looting junk in quest and crrying too much at some point and it pushes you to a medium load.

This tends to be the case for players unfamilar with the monk class, the other class that nearly gets bugged as much are rangers.
404error shows up in dev tracker. He may not be a developer by job title, but 'dev' is easier to type than 'Miscellaneous Official Turbine Representative'.
