    Cool Acid and electricity

I just rolled up a new sorc on a different server. I would like some constructive comments regarding the difference of fire/ice or acid/ele sorc. Whoever has a acid/ele specc'd sorc, how is the damage capabilities? I would like to try, or is speccing in both a viable option? Can it be done? Anyone have any ideas? What would you lose/gain if you spec in both?

I have a fire/ice spec and love it. I also love playing my necromancer. I am up for something different and any help or persuading ideas welcome. Tahnk you very much in advance for your input, help, and recomendations.

You can't really spec both, because you won't be able to afford the crit enhancements for fire and electricity at once. So trying to spec both would weaken your fire attacks.

Speccing electric only loses you power from great spells like Scorching Ray, Wall of Fire, and Delayed Blast Fireball- with nothing to replace them. However, it does make you better at attacking Arraetrikos with Acid Fog, Acid Arrow, and Chain Lightning.

I know the damage potential from fire, but how does the damage from acid and electricity stack against it? i have not tried it as of yet. Is the acid/ele spec sorc just as good or somewhat gimped? Thank you very much for the feedback. Now it is just a matter which way to go. I may just build into acid/ele spec and see, or just change the enhancements if it doesn't work as well. Thanks again Unfortunately I cannot try anything since I am at work until midnight retcher fretcher lol

You can max fire/ice and then still put a decent number of enhancements in acid/elec. I would concentrate mainly on the increase base damage enhancements and then crit chance multiplier. I did this in order to use Ball and Chain lightning. If I only used one acid/electric spell then I am not sure I could justify the expense.

There is more to consider than just dps its Spell selection especially when it comes to sorcs. For example web and acid fog stack nicely together where fire based spells do not. Acis fog also gives concealment and a slow which fire wall does not. For example its alot easier to Kite through acid fog/web.

You should be able to afford max for fire/ice and really high for acid/electricity. So I wouldn't worry about taking both too much.

Actually, you'll be just fine either way. You'll have a lot of fun no matter what.

Actually you can use firewall with web - you just have to be careful about how you place the firewalls. I agree though, acid fog and web is a great combo (especially for blackbones). Acid fog, web, cloudkill AND firewall is even better!

Err, disco ball works with firewall.
The thing is, it's not Fire vs Electric.
It's fire AND ICE vs electric.
Many of the damage you seek with electric, you'll get with Cone of Cold, Ottiluuk, and the awesome Polar Ray (now with glaciation 8 raid loot!)

I have spent the last couple days playing with the character planner and came to the same conclusion. But I think I will cut back on the spell crit multiplier by 1 each and keep the spell pen. Otherwise, would be gimped endgame Still playing around with it though lol. Thanx
