There is a FAQ on that somewhere....

    But the short answer is:

    1) Don't ask, if you ask, they won't ask you
    2) Contibute in the forums with lots of constructive feedback (ie yes please test new things and tell them what's wrong, but do so in a helpful and constructive manner that shows you could be useful for feedback/QA)

And since odds are there is a very small group of testers....don't ever really count on an invite.

From what I hear the most likely way is to be noticed (in a good way) by someone that plays on that server already and get them to recommend you. However (and this is the tricky part) people that do already play on there are not allowed to tell people they play on there or risk getting kicked off. So you never know when you are playing with someone that does play on ML. This is on top of what the others have said.

In case your wondering I have had a few friends that used to play on ML that have moved on to other things tell me about it.

I believe a dev said providing good detailed constructive bug reports is one of their criteria, which means I'd never get in ("what is this ****, it doesn't work").
    Code:
Sil - Human Paladin 14 Lava Divers Tad - Drow Wizard 14
     Semolina - Elf Rog 13/Ftr 1 on Rava - Drow Sorceror 7
Riddikulus - Human Cleric 14 Khyber Clamor - Warforged Barb 7
     Durum - Dwarf Ftr 10/Pal 3/Rng 1 Ridd - Dwarf Ftr 6/Rog 2/Pal 2

    1. Constructive member of the DDO Community. Posting history counts!
    2. Report bugs with the tools given on Live/Risia.
    3. Get a recommendation from a current ML tester.

#1 is probably THE most important criteria quickly followed by #2.

It's totally true, I have a reliable source. You better reroll now.
