Chat server problem.

I too have chat server trouble on 1 of my 2 account both are the Khyber Server but only 1 (my main) can't keep an active connection. I have a ticket into Tech Support and I hope they resolve this soon. One thing I noticed reading this that a few of you use different computers with differnt OS to play on. I do too as I have a lapton with Windows XP Pro, my Main Computer with WindowsXP 64-Bit and one I set up at work to play (only durring down time mind you :-)) with Windows XP Pro as well. I don't know if this is a pattern with the rest but I thought I would put it out there in hopes of a quick resolution.

Oddly enough.. Most of my problems went away after the scheduled "chat upgrade".


However, I did actually experience this exact problem yesterday finally.

I'd switched computers without logging out on the other computer, and booted myself when I logged into the new computer.

The ddo client was still open on the other computer, and had the "your account is in use elsewhere" message, or something like that. On the computer that I'd switched to, my character had a constant stream of chat server messages until I leaned over and closed out the client on the old computer.

Good call Osharan, I've experienced (and bug-reported) the exact same thing. Many of the users in this thread have referenced playing at one time or another on more than one PC, so it sounds like the game servers are still not properly closing all connections to client instances. Prior to the addition of user chat channels, logging onto the game from one pc would cleanly boot you from the other _every_ time, now it _never_ does.

Just had the same problem, was playing in bed on the laptop, got up to get a drink, then shut the laptop lid, and powered on the desktop. Went right through to gianthold and could play the game, but it kept opening and closing my chat connection. Opened the laptop and clicked the dialog box (something like signed on with another computer) and it stopped doing the chat thing on my main pc.

I need to test it as well. I know my home PC was left logged in and I have this problem on the other one. We'll see.

So I can confirm it, problem is caused by leaving other PC logged in and signing on from another one. If you log off on the previous one this problem goes away. So now you know Turbine what is the cause, time to fix it.

Glad you kept this updated, as I had th same issue and now I know why (left DDO logged in at work ).

This sucks.
