Default Geforce 9800 GTX - FPS

So i am having this problem. Just built a new PC with various high end parts including a GeForce 9800 GTX (512 MB) video card. Probably work noting i am using Vista Ultimate x64.

Everything is up and running, but i can't seem to break 30 FPS. This machine should be blowing that out of the water. It is a quad core 2.3 GHz processor with 8 gigs of ram.

It doesn't matter if i am running on very high graphics settings or very low, FPS never goes above 30 when standing still and when i am moving it hangs closed to 20 FPS, regardless of the graphics settings.

Has anyone anyone had a problem like this?

30fps is the cap for DDO - if you are getting dips that is fairly normal (and most likely related to cpu more than gpu or ram)

I am running a AMD Quad core 2.30 GHz processor. Seems a little strange that i would be seeing dips like i am (well into the single digits). Will DDO take advantage of all the processor cores?

    lol no it's not.

I've been running the game on max settings for years at a solid 60 fps with no dips on a much lesser machine then he has. Definetely some kind of problem.

I also just upgraded to a 9800GTX and notice worse performance, still usally 60fps, but sometimes drops to 45.. Something with the new drivers perhaps.

heh ddo won't benefit much from dual core yet alone quad. That said the game should run on max settings at 60+ fps regardless of cores used on that machine.

Hmmm.. I've got a new comp heading my way with a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT with Core 2 Quad processor Q9300....

Sounds similar to what you have... If you find a fix please post the fix steps.

    Much Thanks.

Ok, ive gotta be completely misunderstanding this post, i apologize in advance for the question:

FPS is Frames per second i assume?
In order to see your FPS, you push CTRL and then F, and the number in right middle of screen is the FPS, or frames per second...
Am i understanding this correctly? because i routinely see that number anywhere from 75-250 depending what im doing and where i am........

    confused,

Just a though but are you sinked with your monitor and if you are what refresh rate is your monitor running at? I have mine unsinked and see between 60-280 fps. I am using a E6600 2.4 dual core over clocked to 3.0 ghz with a EVGA 8800GTX card. I did notice that my GPU was bottle necked by my CPU until I over clocked it. I confirmed this with EVGA and was told that I needed a 3.0 ghz dual core or a 2.4 ghz quad to keep up with my card.

You aren't confused. Control-F brings up the Frames per second (FPS). Most of the people i play with that have high end machines are seeing numbers anwhere from 60-200. Not sure what drives it, but it can definately vary.
