I think 10 new mid level quests on 3 barrel cove might have been a marketing "typo" in the newsletter that recently went out... here is exactly what is said:
"Ten new adventures, plus landscape quests, await the arrival of mid-level adventurers into this tropical paradise! "
From my count there currently exists 6 quests (you have to count each part in the the two parters separately) plus the 3 new quests that I've heard about (and did one of) so far. This gives us 9 quests and as the devs have indicated in the past, they usually count the redone slayer/explorer/rares as one quest when giving us these numbers of new quests/areas. This to me would give us 10 quests for 3 barrel cove but they specifically state ten new adventures... 6 old ones can't count towards new adventures (for those of us who have done them in the past, yes I know that 3barrel was probably one of the most under used low-mid/less used in general areas of the game and will therefor be new to a lot of people but it's still not new quests. Also, when saying plus landscape quests - you can't count the explorer outdoor adventure zone twice!
I really would be happier and way more okay with the lack of high level quests (yay raids, but boo no more high level quests) if there was in fact 10 new mid level quests. At least I would know where all the content devs have been for the last 4+ months!
I'm pretty sure that around the time of the server merge there was a big reduction in staff that were supporting DDO, I also have been around long enough to know that most, if not all of the original team is gone and that all the people working on the game now weren't around when the game was first released and so might be almost less familiar with the code/game systems then some of us, even if us on the user side have never seen the actually coding of the game. I really hope that the 10 new mid level quests and that they give us minimum 1, preferably at least 2 character slots or else I really wonder about the long term survivability of DDO... this game is great, but as with all games where users can't generate quality content on their own with similar ease to the devs, it suffers from the limited amount of content that is available and the rate of expansion of the new content.
