I have a 3 line sig... On low res, maybe it hits 4 lines. But I can't modify it because I keep getting the message that only up to 4 lines are allowed. Reducing the font size to 1 so that it would fit into 4 lines on an iPhone does not even let me modify it.

If the technology is just not stable, or would take too long to fix properly, can we at least have the limit increased to maybe 6 lines. This would prevent the ridiculous problem long sigs, but would allow the rest of us a bit more flexibility.

It might be because of the amount of extra BB code in your sig; looking at it shows that you have the color tag in front of pretty much every text item. Have you tried removing the extraneous tags?

as patience said, there is both a visible character limit, AND a maximum character limit which includes code tags. I forget the exact numbers, but its on the order of 200characters per line, 250 including code text.

I thought that as well. But after removing all of the extra tags (One color/end-color combo and one center/end-center combo for the whole thing. Total of two Font/End-font combos, etc.) it still didn't work.

I can send the cleaned up code tomorrow (don't have it at this computer) if you want it to analyze the issue.

NOTE: My sig has been edited after the 4 line restriction was in place. So this is something new as of several months ago... And it seems random. For example, I can change a number and save it. But in some cases I can't change a name to a shorter name and save it.

Looks like the problem is all those italics and bold tags you have. Every name is bolded, every class/level is italicised and that takes up a ton of characters.

My suggestion would be to make the sig as you want it in plain text first (no colours, no italics, no bolding, etc, just a centering format if needed), and make sure that it is accepted. From there, start adding colours and formatting, and you can see what isn't being accepted.

FYI, here is some info I sent to Patience in a PM... The problem is not the length or the number of tags, because a very long version with extra tags works, and a cleaned up version doesn't. For example, here is the cleaned up sig that is not allowed:

I would of course use the longer format, except that it starts getting blocked whenever I make a change of more than a few characters. I may try your suggestion though... just reformat the whole thing, or relegate some of my characters to invisible-man status. *sniff*.

Yes they changed something in the settings and my sig is no longer updateable either.

Biggest issue for me is that outside of code tags it's really difficult to make columns line up, and I've never been able to find something I'm happy with so I've just not bothered updating it.

I wish they would just properly implement justification, [left]left[/left][center]center[/center][right]right[/right] uses three lines instead of one line with three items justified properly, e.g.:
