    Default Uber items for Sorc's

I currently run a level 9 Sorc named Nukinum on Thelanis. What kind of gear should I be looking for for my Sorc? I enjoy spells such as firewall, PK, MM, I also do CC as in web, suggestion and a bit of buffing (energy, haste, blur). I currently carry a +90 (180sp for Sorc) item in my off hand with a potency item in my main hand (I believe +40% to level 5 and under). When I use the 180sp off the top I switch to main hand potency item and off hand penetration +2 item. I know fearsome robes are desired but my current robe is giving me +3 to Charisma, which I don't want to drop until I can replace it. My problem is, I don't what kind of gear outside of the obvious I should be looking for. I am trying to pull or buy a trinket for my spell points to free up my off hand but have had no luck pulling one and will not pay the AH prices, I work too hard for my Plat to drop it all at once on a trinket. I have not taken any school feats yet and probably won't. I have fire/ice and force/repair enhancements. Any help is apprecited in directing me to great gear for a Sorc. and the quests to run to pick them up (if they are a specific drop item).

Also, do other Sorc's have more combo's set up for their items. Do you carry fire/force/elec improvement items with penetration items for different battles/quests? I just want to be the best I can but I find with the amount of wands/pots/gear that I have to carry (don't have 5th slot yet) I can't carry a lot of hand items or else I have no room for looting!

    Any direction is appreciated.

At level 16, these are the key items I use, in order of importance.

    1) Superior Potency 6 scepter - best caster item in the game, fortunately quite common now.

    2) Minos Legens (Helmet, Heavy Fortification, Toughness) - Sorcs are fairly squishy, after all.

    3) +6 Charisma cloak - no brainer

    4) +200 SP goggles (+400 for a Sorc) - Crafted in the Shroud, need to do another completion run to get them to +300 SP now that I have the ingredients.

    5) Greater False Life belt

    6) Alternate between Spell Penetration 7, Greater Spell Penetration 6, Superior Fire Lore, Superior Acid Lore, Superior Ice Lore as offhand weapon.

At lower level, many of these items are available in weaker versions such as a +4 Charisma cloak.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Probably the single most important item for a Sorc, is luckily (kinda) a matter of grinding, meaning you know exactly where it come from, you just need to collect enough scales to get it.

Blue Dragon Robe (takes 25 blue dragon scales from the Gianthold Tor preraid) will require about 60-100 runs on average to pull enough scales to get yourself one (including trading off the other color scales you pull).

As far as random items go, I would shoot for these, in no particular order..

1 Pearl of Power X/Nonweapon magi item - Lets you free up your offhand for a Superior Lore or Spell Penetration VII item
    2 Superior Potency 6 1h - Mainhand all-purpose weapon
3 Superior ____ Lore 1h - Secondary weapon for nuking
4 Spell Penetration VII 1h - Secondary weapon for zapping through SR mobs
5 Spell Focus _____ bracers/goggles - For upping your DCs of whatever school you use. Enchantment (hypnotism, charms, suggestion, dancing ball), necromancy (Finger) and illusion (PK) are obvious ones.
6 Fearsome armor - Awesome for a caster, period. Fearsome saves lives, lots of lives. Fearsome of invulnerability or spearblock is even better!

As far as static items go, I would shoot for these, in no particular order..

1 Torc of Prince Raiyum-de II - necklace, Greater Spell Penetration VI, Wizardry III, Transform Kinetic Energy* Great end-game necklace option for casters. Nice on-hit proc ability for SP, greater spell pen 6 on at all times. Comes from Demon Queen.
2 Stormreaver's Napkin - +6 Intelligence, Spell Focus Mastery* Arguably the best thing end-game casters can use for the cloak slot, it forces you to use a charisma ring, though. Comes from Reaver.
3 Blue Dragonscale Robe - +4 Armor Bonus, Potency VII, Greater Arcane Lore, Spell Penetration VII, Greater Lightning Resistance (Also comes in Docent format) Great caster armor. Greater arcane lore and spell pen 7 active at all times, with bonus G lightning resist. Can't beat that! Only downfall is that it A) has no deathblock and B) has no fearsome (one or the other can be fixed by 3rd tier necropolis amulets, necklace.) Comes from Gianthold Tor scales [25]
4 Skiver - +5 Dagger, Archmagi, Greater Arcane Lore, Improved Extend I, Improved Empower II Arguably the most useful single caster weapon in the game. Only item with archmagi on it. Comes from complete 'tome' series in Litany.

    Just my 2c.

    Default Items to shoot for

My capped Sorcerer currently wears these items, some for flavor but all are for effectiveness.

As far as weapons go, you shouldn't have to switch out if you get all the items on the shopping list

Left hand (constant) +9 CHR, Greater Disruption Dagger from the should with a bonus of 1 true rez a day
Right hand - Superior Potentcy VI (whatever looks good to you) / skiver (I wouldn't waste tome pages on this with the shroud weapons, but if you already have it switch for a few more starting SP for buffing)

Armor - Blue dragon armor/robe (A MUST HAVE!)
Helm - Minos Legends (covered in previous post, squishy)
Goggles - Intricate field optics (not really needed but decent for soloing stuff, other option is a should item here)
Necklace - Fearsome, +11 Diplomacy, +11 Intimidate (Upgraded Emerald Claw trinket) / Torc of Rayium (if you can get one)
    Trinket - Kardin's Eye / Mumified Bat
    Cloak - Reaver's Napkin
Bracers - Shroud item (300SP, +6 to CHR skills w/ 1 true rez)
Gloves - Seven Fingered Gloves (I will switch these out with Bramble casters, just can't seem to land thos from the DQ yet)
    Ring1 -+6 CON
Ring2 - Eye of the Beholder (deathblock) / Ring of the Djinn
Belt - Disease Immunity, Greater False Life
Boots - +30% Striding / Firestorm Greaves / Spiked Boots

With all these items my Sorcerer is sitting at 270hp and just under 2500SP. I dropped the mental toughness feats for penetration (much more effective, besides you really shouldn't run out of spell points at 2500).

    Happy Hunting er Nuking!

The blue scale robe is just horrible to farm
I like fearsome robe of SR 19, swap to fire, deathblock as needed.

Carry a greater spell pen item for lower debuff spells.

I wear a chain shirt like any self respecting drow should =)

in my hands I got the usual set of weapons to swap:
    finesse rapier + shield
    greenblade + sup pot 6
    necro focus + spell pen
    etc

    my standard gear is

    goggles: greensteel (positive)
    head: minos legens
    neck: prot +5 (torc)
trinket: (empty for now, looking for beef jerky)
    cloak: cha +6
    belt: con +6
    gloves: 7 fingered gloves
feet: dex +6 (featherfall / queen boots)
    bracers: chaos guard
    ring: greater false life
    ring: resistance +4
    armor: +5 mith chain shirt

    I'm a wussy 12 con drow but...

    I have 240 HP
    40AC without, 43 AC with a shield
and an easy 2400 mana (only got level 2 greensteel)

I'm harder to kill then a hasted cockroach =)

I won't bother to go through all my slots but the important stuff:
    Superior Potency VI one hander
    Shroud Mana Items, Charisma skills
Try and find Greater Arcane Lore from some source (Skiver, Greenblade, Blue Dragon Robe)
UMD items - Golden Cartouche, 7 Fingered Gloves from Titan, Gloves from Abbot Raid
Minos Legens, helm from Tapestry turn-ins

    Other items of use:
Robe of the Magi from Litany of the Dead (Abbot preraid) <- not required but uber useful! Spell Penetration VII on a robe
Head of Good Fortune <- +2 to saves and UMD

I made this list short to be simple. Honestly the best slot for charisma is probably a ring, to fit with most gear configurations.

Good point Aspenor. Another option is the Belt of the Seven Ideals (from Gianthold Tor), gives you spell pen VII on your belt - however it's Lawful required so you'll most likely need umd to use it (which you should on your Sorc!). Just another option before you get yer blue scales.

Indeed. I don't have a blue robe because I was originally not interested in grinding relics all the time. Now that prereq has been removed it seems, so that's a non issue. Now I simply can't afford the scales and I don't want to farm them out, either.

Another item of note would be the Raiment of the Fervent from the Emerald Claw rewards for 4th level amulet upgrades. It is Wizardry VI and Greater Spell Penetration VI on a robe. However, you must beat the Abbot to get your hands on one.

I carry the Belt of Seven Ideals. This also gives Improved Pot VI which is not bad. Only 30% vs. 50% of Superior but allows me to carry a Greensteel Dagger and a Lore item and not switch out with a Superior Pot item. I belive the Improved 30% plus Lore giving 9% more chance to crit and 50% more crit damage is greater than the Superior item by itself and the greensteel dagger increases dc to hit for me by 2. A great combo imo. Of course I still carry the Superior Pot just in case but often I will dual wield two Lore items and have three combos for fire, ice and electric.
