    Default Paladin Build Question

    16/12/15/8/12/12

Do you think this will be a good starting point for a decent tank and still doing some good melee along with spells and pally skills?
I know its kinda vauge but I'm in a hurry for work. Post away and I reply when I get to work.
    Thanks in advance.

well, 16 str is fine, 12 dex for a pure pally is too high. You will do fine with 10, can even manage with 8.
con is good too if you're human.
Intelligence, fine if you're human, needs to be 10 for other races.
As for wisdom... too high again. you only need 8 base. You can get it to 14 easily enough.

leftover/ freed up points go into con and cha.

    so go with

    16/10/15+/10/8/12+

there ya go, my 2 cents =)

If you care about AC, dex should be 14, and you should strongly consider a dwarf. If you only care about damage .. roll just about anything that's not a pure paladin . There are some rather effective melees with splashed pali around.

    14 dex + 6 item + 2 tome = + 6 AC from dex.

You can take advantage of that fully in a suit of mithril full plate with the dwarven enhancements, or if you don't have such a plate, in say Tourney armor with a daggertooth belt until you do.

Int should be 10, just in case they ever fix combat expertise to be more pali friendly, you can always hope for a +3 int tome to go with the times. A 12 int +1 tome and the extend feat to make it a bit less of a pain to use are also good options.
Devs: Thanks for making Druids available to VIPs without the pack. This more than anything, has made me want to buy the pack.

Looks not too bad. I would lower your Wisdom to 10. That way when you start to get spells you'll be able to pick up a +2 wis item without too much difficulty. I suppose 8 starting wis could work if you think you can find a +6 wis item...I'm a casual player, have played DDO a long time now and have never seen a +6 item (though I hope to). So it will depend on what resources you have access to.

If you're going to go straight Pally, then a starting dex of 10 is probably good. You should easily be able to pick up a +2 dex item to fill out FP. Later on if you find mithral full plate, then you would have to find a +6 dex item (or a tome + dex item). Kinda uber gear, but it would be easy to get your dex to 12 starting out, and then have the possibility of filling out mithral FP later on.

That would free up 4 build points. Your strength looks good, which leaves Con, Int and and Charisma. Personally I like a little more intelligence as over time I've come to really like my skill points. One option would be to raise con to 16, and int to 10. Skill points will be good into balance, jump, spot, some into concentration, and/or umd. Only put points into intimidate if you're going to plan your build around it to be affective with it. Concentration depends on your play style. Some people will not put any points into it, but I find that I will cast a spell in the middle of combat. If all of a sudden I'm taking ice damage and I don't have cold resist on, I will cast resist cold. Also, I will cast DF if I'm in a fight and things are starting to go south and I don't have it on. However if you know the quests really well and you know what you're supposed to cast ahead of time then you wouldn't need points into this.

You can farm enough PP to get a +6 wisdom item these days or just farm vale. Either way getting a +6 wisdom item shouldn't be too hard. Having a good guild helps also
