    Default Enchantment selection??

Starting to build my first Drow Sorcerer. Read a lot of info on this forum. (i might be more confused than informed
Anyway, I have not seen a lot of actual builds so I am kinda lost on how you send enchantments.

What are good enchantments for a nuker or instkilla?

I'll assume you meant enhancements, and advise the following:

The fire/ice spec, spell penetration, spell points, CHA, and cheaper max/emp.

For a nuker? Enchantments are the fundamental opposite of nuking. If you want to nuke and enchant, then I guess Hold Person, Hold Monster, Dancing Ball and Mass Hold Person.

I've never been a fan of suggestion and I can't see them working well with a nuker anyways. Charm monster is a good staple because it makes an ally out of almost anything. Which is good for mobs who are immune or resistant to your elemental damaging spells. Hypno and nuking won't work unless you restrict yourself to single target spells. Hypno and PK/Finger may be a good combo, though.

First, I'm an idiot, yes I meant enhancements.

So, fire/ice meaning more damage, etc on these spells? What about extend? Spell Resistance?

LOL. Then I assume my enchantment expertise is not needed here.

    On my Sorc I have:

    40% to Fire/Cold and Acid/Lightning
3 ranks of crit chance Fire/Cold and Acid/Lightning
2 ranks of crit mult Fire/Cold and Acid/Lightning
    2 ranks of Spell Penetration
    +2 Cha
2 ranks of SP reduction for Empower and Maximize

Can't remember exactly what else, but that is a good place to start.

One of the most important items you need to be hunting for soon is blue scales for Blue Dragon Robe (Greater Arcane Lore +9% crit chance to all spells and +.5 crit multiplier and Spell Penetration 7)

These are the enhancements that I took on Leyoni, who is currently L8 (Rank 38). They are drawn from a build that I saw in the forums and are listed by AP cost (sorry, I didn't record the order I took them in).

Elemental Manipulation I, Energy Manipulation I, Energy of the Dragonblooded I, Lineage of Deadly Energy I, Lineage of Elements I, Lineage of Energy I, Charisma I, Elemental Manipulation II, Energy Manipulation II, Energy of the Dragonblooded II, Improved Empowering I, Improved Maximizing I, Elemental Manipultaion III, Energy Manipulation III, Charisma II

I still have 2 AP that I have not yet used. Absolutely planned for the future are Charisma III, Energy of the Dragonblooded III, and Energy of the Dragonblooded IV. Not as yet so clear are whether to continue to pursue Lineage of Elements II and Lineage of Energy II or whether to focus on Spell Resistance/additional levels of Improved Empowering/Maximizing or do something else.

I don't know if that is helpful to you or not. Just sort of the direction that I've gone.

You can always go back and redo your enhancements as often as you wish and you may want to anyway as the game progresses. I know I maxed fire up until I entered the shroud and that worked great. Then in the shroud I found many mobs were fire resistant and I went back and put some emphasis on acid/elec. There are alot of options available to you. How you play your character, which will change, will affect your choices.

For me, I have always maxed spell penetration, in feats and enhancements, and charisma. Except for nuking, if you can't get by spell penetration and a mobs dc to hit, you will be almost useless imho. There's an exception or two in there but that does not change the point. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to watch someone cast a dancing ball and mobs walk right thru it or the disintegrage spell that does not land, and on and on. If you look thru the spell lists you will see almost every spell has a either a spell pen save, fortitude or will save, and many both. Also, many spells that are affected by spell pen are not shown as such in the ddo descriptions.
