    Thumbs down Thud!!!!

I just tried the monk class on Risia and it was a waste of time. It's a gimped fighter class that doesn't make up for the gimpiness in any way, shape, or form. For those of you who are waiting, don't! It's simply not worth saving a toon spot for it. Even a 32 point build wouldn't make this class worth playing. It's just another over-hyped waste of time!

Depends on how you look at it.

I was one who wasn't interested in monks, and didn't care either way. Tried them on risia, took a lil while getting used to, but pretty fun.....and most importantly, different.

definitely different. You have to get used to getting pounded into the dust and you get your special attack so infrequently they are almost useless. But hey, if someone has the time to waste....

Yea .... 2d8 base damage per unarmed attack at L16 sucks
so does that fact that at L4 my "storm" dex monk attacks as fast or faster than my tempest ranger

And I swear to Jeebus ... when I get greensteel handwraps and out dps any other toon there is .... i might just have to cancel my sub.

Just remember that the air stance attack speed bonus doesn't stack with haste (or, I noticed no change from what I could test).

Thats funny.. I wasn't too hyped about monks either.. til I saw how they changed them to make them more viable. They are not your typical class, but they were **** fun imo.

Yup yer right we all should play dwarven barbarians...since its the only race and class that isn't gimped.Seriously tho I think once the bugs are worked out the monk class will be incredible for those few twitch players skilled enuf to handle em.Thanks for the hard work devs been waiting for this class for quite awhile

Sorry you didnt like Monks, at first I was a little disapointed in the changes they did to them but I can see it does help the monk in being a playable class, not sure if I have the proper twitch skills to play one here but I am gonna try when the game goes live I have had fun playing on in test.

Monks just keep getting better and better. Check out the cool stuff they get at each level. At lvl 7 they effectively get their own portable cleric that uses ki - and ki is generated from hitting stuff - it's a soloer's wet dream... Wind stance makes you attack faster than tempest, monks get buffing (blur the whole party) debuffing (stop a caster from attacking, or reduce a mob's attack bonus with one hit) as well as great dps and other innate abilities like immunity to disease, wisdom bonus to AC...

The problem with monks is, if you have any sort of melee character, and you're not cycling through the FREE feats you get at level 1 (or 2) i.e. trip and sunder, then you're not going to like/enjoy/make-the-most-of a monk, because it's a lot of pushing buttons, and you have to be smart with which button you push when, especially to get the best finishing moves. I need another 2 hands to play a monk properly - or maybe one of those fancy logitech programmable keyboards.

But they are great fun - and they keep getting better as I level!
