    I'm pretty sure that's sober.

    i got it.

    Disciple of Abberations.
    Pre-req- Wf, Monk lv 10.
While in your Major Abberant Stance, you gain access to a breath weapon. This Breath weapon is usable three times per rest, and the power varies according to this chart:

    Monk Level Size/Damage
10-12 15ft. cone of Rust Monsters (cr 6 each)
13-15 60ft. cone containg three Beholders (cr 12 each)
16 120ft. cone of Mind Flayers (cr 14 each)

120ft cone of Mind Flayers(which deal Bludgeoning damage when spewed at your enemies, then are a real PAIN to contend with) is really worth taking a full 16 level of monk as a WF.

Unless they decided to deviate from the rules, a monk should have, starting at level 13, Spell Resistance equal to their monk level + 10

My comments above were using their natural SR.

Monk already has 3 stats that are very important... Wis, Dex, Str (in that order)

why add a 4th (Con)? And Force the players to take a skill that would normally not be used by a melee character. So you have to have an average Int so you can afford it.

Though this topic has gone away from the "Can a WF make a good Monk".
I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm still scratching my head over why it was done this way. But so far, I've leveled my monk on Risia to 3 and besides the clunky mouse-and-keyboard combo, it's worked out pretty well. I'm starting to pick up quite a few the twitch skills I'm sure most the community has mastered already.

As long as I stay in melee, I can spam a special moves every 3 seconds or so, with a finishing move every 4th attack. I'd say I'm able to keep on par with a fighter (who has less clicky-ness to deal with) damage wise. Doing the special attacks as a /rest ability would require having a rather large benefit or large number of times/rest to be equivilently useful.

Per DnD, casters have only ever been the characters who could truly afford to dump CON. Monk's have always been a primarily melee class, meaning CON is important to them. DDO just emphasizes it even more with over inflated damage and mob HP.

As far as being WF monks, with the bonus to CON, immunities, and healing enhancements (WF and Monk enhancments) WF can make VERY good monks. The only downside I see is the -2 WIS, but it's really only going to affect your special attacks' DC and max Ki.

    I didn't say dump Con.

A nice healthy 10 would be fine just so you don't lose HP per level.

And HP don't matter if you don't get hit.

High Wis and Dex = outlandish AC

Add whatever deflection/armour bracers you can find.... even more outlandish AC

And with the limitations placed by a point buy system you can't afford to have 2 or more stats in the 3 points per stat bump area.

i have to ask...why would you make a WF Female ANYTHING let alone a Monk?

Unless you wanted to be Jamie Lee Curtis or Ru Paul....

Could the WF develop soem traits that set them apart as Male/Female...or just ditch the female WF all together. That is all I can think of. Let alone the wis hit WF take...

True, however as has been stated this is not P&P and 10 Con isn;t healthy here unless you like getting one-shotted..

A CON of 10 is certainly doable...just not for a melee class. I have a halfling thrower rogue that survives fairly well with a CON 10. My CON 10 wiz doesn't get hit often enough to justify a higher (base) CON. Running into melee with a low CON...you'd better be able to gulp potions quickly or micro manage aggro.

That's what WF monks are gonna be though. They're going to be highly durable monks who can wade into the thick of battle, expecially if they take the Way of Mountains enhancements. I would not recommend a CON of 10 unless you plan on making a thrower monk.

well my twf thief has done rather well with a base 10 con and i can't keep her away from battle. and they have D6 for HP while a monk has D8. not to mention the +20 hp that DDO gives you right off the top for being alive.

unless you have a 10 con and a +6 con item...then you are OK
dont forget the +2 con tome that everyone keeps putting into their builds. like they are standard issue :P

I have better uses for stat points that will keep the character from being hit. And all the HP in the world will not help anybody survive a nasty crit. Keeping that crit from even happening would

Fair enough. Won't be keeping my eyes open for your monk build though.
