    Exclamation VIrus Protection

I know this is way off-topic, but I came home one night and it said i had 247 threats on my computer. Yeah it happened in one day when i left the computer on for 7 hours. I removed alot of it but i dont have protection against any more attacks. My documents have already have been breached, and my internet privacy. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me where to find a Free anti virus that deletes viruses, and protects against it. I have Norton but it seems like it doesnt help much. And it says the same thing after every time i click on something on the internet.

For free AV I like AVG Free. Decent protection at good price (free). Also doesn't hurt to have a spyware cleaning program, the few that I know that are decent is Super AntiSpyware, Malware Bytes Anti-Malware and Spybot Search and Destroy.

looks like you've been hit with malware/spyware... software has hijacked your home page. there are many free tools to get rid of this and the other bugs that most likely came with it. you can try both spybot and adaware to start, hijack this will help at deeper level, but you kind of need to know what you are looking for. Even if these programs get most of it, you typically need to dig a little deeper to remove it all (which may or may not be necessary to ensure that it doesn't just reinstall itself), including editing the registry and looking for remaining files that the programs couldn't remove. You can use AVG antivirus free http://free.grisoft.com/ . I've installed it on a couple end user home computers and it works fine.

If you did get this as you said by just leaving your computer running, i will either assume you do not have a router/firewall. If this is the case suggest you get one. You may also want to look into securing your interent settings to prevent apps from just running freely.
