    Default What would you do?

I'm curious about how I should have handled events that transpired during a Tangleroot quest over the weekend. We started about 12am, and things were relatively normal for the first hour as we neared completion of part 6. At this point, the wizard started to throw 'grease' under us as a sort of joke...not unusual really, except for the timing..during the quest.
At any rate, we finished part 6, and then her significant other, playing the main fighter, left to get a clickable item with 'grease' on it. From then on, it was a war, with people falling all over...the fighter wasn't bothered when he fell into the spiders at the beginning and was eaten. Long story short, by the time we got to the second stage of part seven, things had devolved to a joke, the wizard using all of her spell points to lay down the patch of grease for the 80th time.
My rogue has a great balance, but this doesn't help in trying to single-handedly fend off the gangs of monsters that descended on us; with a warrior that couldn't stay standing, and a wizard that had no spell points, you can see where this is going...i died.
My response was to let them goof around and come back in to carry my stone to the shrine..where I just let it sit the rest of the way. I went away and did things on my other comp, refreshing often enough to stay in the dungeon. They finally finished a little after 3am, with 2 hours spent on 'grease' gags. I have to confess I didn't mind hearing the jokers' constant stream of death in the elite traps I would have been there to disable...
My question is this...should I have dropped the quest like one player did...chewed them out and dropped quest...chewed them out and tried to complete it...or just let them finish and pick up the xp?

Default Sounds like Argo has turned into a frat house

This is one of about 2 dozen comments I have heard about like this regarding that server. Even respected names like Ro&*hea( have posted about taking part in that kind of behavior on that server. My reccomendation, if you want to get down to serious business, and still deal with friendly folks, come over to Ghallanda. We have fun, but don't pull those kind of stunts. Especially not in a pug.

Ran into a smaller, but similiar incident yesterday. Running Tempest Spine and a guy threw down grease inside the cave, just after the initial run, while buffing and waiting for the slowpokes to get inside. No big. A little further on, he hits it again at the shrine of Fire and Ice. OK, some people love grease. I'll admit I always carry a 3 charge grease bracer to have fun with when waiting for others. I rarely use it, and usually only among guildies, but I do carry it.

After the Marut, we start to loot the chest, and the guy hits grease right on the chest. At that point, someone said over voice chat, "alright, enough with the grease", but not in a rude manner. Someone agreed, over voice chat, and another member typed agreement. The guy didn't hit it again.

As to what should be done in your situation, I guess it depends on the person. Your solution sounded reasonable. However, if I actually wanted to do something else, I would have dropped group and asked friends to help out, or even put up an LFM asking for help to complete.

Not much you can do really, but refuse to help. When I first started, I rolled a WF fighter. Occasionally I joined group with nothing but caster and had some clerics refuse to heal me, so I'd type /sleep and stopped helping. But, I digress.

    Default i agree

i agree with the guy posting on the wrong server because evidently people from other servers have that much time. if i were you i would move all ur toons to gallahand or wherever the peeps wound up to tight play. otherwise chill out and if u need to sit in the shrine do so but make ur own decisions u dont need to come to the forums for handholding.

This from the guy who shouted profanity in a raid group, then spent half a hour in tells crying because he was not given the Chattering Ring in the Titan Raid. Then saying he would never group with a member of that person's guild nor anyone in his guild would be grouping with that guild ever agian. Talk about wound up tight.

To the OP, originally I played casually on Mabar now Argo for about 5 months (now I play much more often). When I only had a couple hours "shenanigans" adding hours to a quest were cute, but then got old. In my opinion, anyone doing this is simply bored and having fun. Argo has great players, but they can be a little bit (ok alot) childish at times. I recommend redirecting them to a differnent challenge that is fun, but better for you.

    Examples:
Ask the figher to only use weapons pulled during the current run.
Ask the wizard to run in front of the group to make aggro more fun.
Ask the wizard to swap out all spells on her spell list for something different
    Ask them to run naked
Setup an all melee mobs must die before the casters challenge.
Make a comment like "man the last time I ran this we finished part 7 in 5 minutes , those people were really uber"

In short, when dealing with good bored players, redirect, redirect, redirect.

Wow, you take this game too seriously.

To the OP, you should have said SOMETHING. People can't respond to your opinion unless you give it to them.

OMG Rowan is having fun!?! How dare you, Rowan!?! You know, I've played with Rowan plenty now to know she wouldn't pull that stunt in a PUG. This would only happen in our guild groups. And OMG, we like to goof around sometimes!!!! Terrible! So back off on my girl...you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

To the OP, you gotta do what's right by you. If you're not having fun in the group you're in, drop group, join another. End of story.

Question: Did you, or anyone else in the group actually try to tell them that "It's late and I'd really like to get this over with pls."?

You didn't mention it in your OP so I don't know. I don't think its should be taken for granted either that they should understand this, as they might be from a different part of the world where it was just the start of peak hour and they thought that everyone would have lots of time.

Anyway, that would be what I would have tried to do first.

Well once you get a couple more levels have the cleric put FoM on everyone and greese your hearts content out. It actually is a wonderful CC spell as long as people have FoM.
PS> Your cleric should have it memed in TS as best buff there is against the end boss there. Sliding off the cliff for the loss.
