Default Death from above is back, and it's ugly.

This screenshot was taken about two weeks ago. Puf was standing below one of the Kobold spawn points where they drop from tubes in the ceiling.

I haven't seen this bug since devs confirmed it was fixed. Perhaps this is a variant related to spawn points or something.

No. The three best established PD guilds all recognize it as a bug. It's confirmed by the fact no damage type is given, just a damage amount.

Go see their website, they have all the rules listed. And no, if someone can raise you, you don't delete your character.

I remember seeing this way back in the day but dont recall why it was a bug. A character should take equal damage to the kobold's(in this case) fall damage, right? Is it a bug because the kobold takes no damage in the exchange? Just curious.

The kobold isn't taking any fall damage. It's not like you do damage to a kobold when you fall a long distance either. You take the damage, and the untyped damage bug is literally that -- "you take XX damage from something." Meanwhile there's a kobold dancing on your head, somehow "falling" repeatedly, dealing XX amount of damage every time it falls.

Hence the bug. It shouldn't be on top of you at all. Let alone doing any sort of damage.

Besides which, it would often be falling less than 10'... usually from one of those invisible ledges in corners they would hop onto or from atop some barrels or crates. So even if it was supposed to be the falling damage, it wouldn't be the instakill level of damage it was.

It's a bug because it's unintended. If it was meant for Kobolds hits like this, they would have build in pogo stick tails and launch into combat from catapaults.

The inevitability of defeating a creature reduces it to common status. I prefer heroic.

I know and I agree, I just meant that it'll be a long time before you get enough characters high level enough to attempt this fight.

I posted this on the bug hunters thread a while back...I don't think they ever fixed it, they just made it occur less. I've also been trying to tell Turbine that their change management procedures stink because they are letting old bugs/exploits back into the game, but nobody wants to hear that.
