Arrow Tell The DDO Community Team #19

It's that time again everyone...

How it works:
I'll be asking you questions, and here in my thread, you tell me: What comes to mind; what you think; how you feel; etc, as it relates to the question(s) at hand. If you missed the previous week's questions, they'll be listed below and you can answer them here too. Thank you so much to everyone for offering their answers!

Ground Rules:
Before we get started, let's lay down three ground rules if you're going to participate in the thread. These ground rules also have a few samples to help clarify participation:

#1 - The single most important rule to remember while participating in this thread is:
No personal attacks.
If you disagree with the opinion of another participant, that's fine, but no one can make anyone agree to their opinion. Thus, please refrain from commenting on the personal qualities of others who offer their responses to the question(s). Personal attacks go against forum guidelines. Questions asked will be subjective, and some users will have a lot related to their opinion, while others may only define things in short phrases. All forms are acceptable.
Hypothetical Example:
Tolero "Do you like ice cream?"
Player 1 "I hate ice cream because it's too tough to scoop"
Acceptable "I like it. It's not that bad to scoop once you let it sit on the counter for a little bit before you try to dip it Player 1."
Acceptable "I like it but I have the same problem as Player 1. What brand is it Player 1?"
Acceptable "I don't think it's too hard, I never have any problem with it. I like ice cream."
Unacceptable "That's cause you're a noob..."
Unacceptable "You don't have enough experience with scooping to be talking about how difficult it is"
Unacceptable "How about you back that opinion up with some numbers. If you can't prove it don't bring it here"

Everyone has the right to offer their response to the question(s), whether they have scientific data to back up their feelings, or they simply just "feel" a certain way towards the question(s).

#2 - Participate as well as discuss.
If you would like to join in the discussion, please be sure to offer your response to the questions as well, in addition to your conversation with any other thread participants
Hypothetical Example:
Tolero "What's your favorite color?"
Player 1 "Blue"
Player 2 "Green"
Acceptable "Purple... hey Player 2, how come you like Green?"
Unacceptable "hey Player 2 how come you like Green?"

Please be sure to take the time to offer your own opinion of the question(s) before you engage in a discussion about other people's opinions in the thread.

#3 - Don't recycle the above hypothetical examples in your responses as it spams the thread.
-------------------------- Let's Get Started! --------------------------

If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:

Question 1
How much, if any, effort do you invest in your character's appearance?

Question 2
A mysterious box appears before you. The writing on the side of it reads "Soap". When you stand near it, you feel the urge to climb on top of it and speak. What do you say? (Remember the forum/thread guidelines)

Question 3
Recently we asked what your favorite (and least favorite) character class was. This week we ask... what is your favorite character race, and why?

This week's question(s) are:

Question 1
What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO? (with a nod to the thread already running on this very topic, we think alike )

Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? (excluding things like mules or guild banker characters etc)

Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?

Question 1
What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO? (with a nod to the thread already running on this very topic, we think alike ) Nightwalker - A powerful undead creature who could/should give high level players a rough time.

Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? Currently I alternate between 3 of my low-mid level characters. I'm bored with the high level stuff and not interested in grinding in the Shroud right now.

Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through? "The Riddle"

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why? None are memorable enough to come to mind. For me, I just can't form much of a connection with any of the NPCs in this game.

This week's question(s) are:

Question 1
What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO? (with a nod to the thread already running on this very topic, we think alike ) Elder brain

Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? (excluding things like mules or guild banker characters etc)
Gallanda, and only 1

Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?
Well I would open the door to the one that says "the riddle". I can't walk though doors....

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?
The House D favor vendor...cause he gives me loads of sharp, pointy things with which to tatoo my name on the raid bosses (DQ has my name tatooed all over her body)

Question 1
How much, if any, effort do you invest in your character's appearance?

I would love to see more customizable player appearances. See cloaks and gloves etc.

Question 2
A mysterious box appears before you. The writing on the side of it reads "Soap". When you stand near it, you feel the urge to climb on top of it and speak. What do you say? (Remember the forum/thread guidelines)

We need better pvp and pvp that is not exclusive to the bar brawls. We should be able to align ourselves with the Houses and have the ability to have raids vs other Houses and their representatives. e.g. see Dark Ages of Camelot (great pvp environment)

Question 3
Recently we asked what your favorite (and least favorite) character class was. This week we ask... what is your favorite character race, and why?

I like drow for the extra points.

This week's question(s) are:

Question 1
What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO? (with a nod to the thread already running on this very topic, we think alike )

I would love to see Demogorgon or Nightmares. Both remind me of pnp D&D, which is why i play this game in the first place.

Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? (excluding things like mules or guild banker characters etc)

I play 6 characters 5 of which are capped. I like being able to cap toons and build others, its in the true spirit of DnD. I've always loved character creation and rolling up new characters.

Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?

Riddle, just because I'm curious and like surprises.

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?
I like Arlos, because he's been held captive forever and never complains

Q: What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO?

A: I'd like to see some more flying critters. I mean really flying, not hovering politely in melee range.

Q: On your primary server, how many characters do you play?

A: a cleric, a wizard, and a fighter; so three.
EDIT: ... to be entirely honest, lately it's been "0".

Q: You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?

A: Riddle. I dig riddles. though they typically have low re-play value.

Q: Who is your favorite NPC and why?

Who: Charlotte the Scarlet.
Why: Thong.

There was a girl warforged named Cleaver.
Every man that she loved would soon leave her.
They all left so fast / as they couldn't get past
the fact that she has a Brass Beaver

[Question 1
What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO? (with a nod to the thread already running on this very topic, we think alike )

An adult dragon. A real one, not like the two "adult" dragons in the game now that are only traps with dragon pictures on them. Somethat that casts, buffs, debuffs, flies, wing buffets, lands on you, tosses you, something overwhelmingly complex and dangerous to fight. (and that definately is not Velah increased to 1billion hps)

Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? (excluding things like mules or guild banker characters etc)

7, plus a mostly retired one that I can't bear to delete

Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?

Tough... Riddle... but DDO riddles haven't been great (I think you blew some of the Abbot answer BTW) so I'd prob go that way once and then enemy after that unless it did really interesting things...

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?
None of them. Most of them are just talking posts, none of them make me feel anything for them at all.

If you missed last week's questions, you're welcome to answer them now in addition to this week's:
Question 1
How much, if any, effort do you invest in your character's appearance?

Quite a bit I'd say. I spent quite a bit of time just finding new chainshirts and shields even if they aren't upgrades to find a set that looks better or more unique than the ones I currently have. I even use some weaker equipment just because it looks better.

Question 2
A mysterious box appears before you. The writing on the side of it reads "Soap". When you stand near it, you feel the urge to climb on top of it and speak. What do you say? (Remember the forum/thread guidelines)

Most likely I'd start be preaching about the lack of rogue love (even despite the current changes set for Mod 7), then move on to talk about the relative ineffectiveness of ranged combat compared to melee. I'd close by stating that adventurers should have been able to figure out how to build better Iron Companions by now.

Question 3
Recently we asked what your favorite (and least favorite) character class was. This week we ask... what is your favorite character race, and why?

Half-elf. Just because I have some fond memories of playing a half-elf bard in PnP.

This week's question(s) are:

Question 1
What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO? (with a nod to the thread already running on this very topic, we think alike )

Displacer Beast

Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? (excluding things like mules or guild banker characters etc)

5 routinely. 3 more are just random experiments.

Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?

The Riddle door of course.

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?

Haywire, without a doubt. There's just something I love about the crazy Artificer creating new experiments, and then the adventurers having to bail him out when they all turn on him.

This week's answer(s) are:

Answer 1
Manticores & Naga. I think the artwork could really be cool for both of these, and they offer a variety of combat options.

Answer 2
What is 3 + 4?

Answer 3
Personally, I would walk through the doorway entitled "The Enemy". However, my various characters may choose different options, and since this is usually a game consisting of parties of adventurers... Let us do both/either and still complete the adventure (maybe with a bonus)! I want multiple paths in quests, some more randomization, and to get rid of this boring and trite grind. Figure out a way to develop more with less time & resources please!

Answer 4
I'm horrible with names, but I've gotten to know the elf in the Lobster that sends me off on the Information Is Key quest, way too well. We're pretty good drinking buddies these days. (And yeah, I have drinking buddies in real-life whose names sometimes elude me, but I do remember the names of their dogs for some reason. *shrug*)

Question 1
How much, if any, effort do you invest in your character's appearance?

Probably 5 minutes or so at character creation. While leveling its all function over form. Once they are near cap I am always looking for armor/robes that I like the look of.

Question 2
A mysterious box appears before you. The writing on the side of it reads "Soap". When you stand near it, you feel the urge to climb on top of it and speak. What do you say? (Remember the forum/thread guidelines)

With forum guidelines in mind NO COMMENT.

Question 3
Recently we asked what your favorite (and least favorite) character class was. This week we ask... what is your favorite character race, and why?

Drow/elves. Half elves are my PNP fave(no particular reason) and half an elf is better than half a man.

This week's question(s) are:

Question 1
What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO? (with a nod to the thread already running on this very topic, we think alike )

Frost Giants. Would have to be in a level 4-6 quest though, before firewall etc.

Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? (excluding things like mules or guild banker characters etc)

6 for reaver raids, though usually I am focusing on 3 capped characters at any given point and leveling one other toon.

Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?

ENEMY

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?

Gatekeeper Grotz. I love the recurring NPC thing. That and of course his dialogue is hilarious in Crucible.

There is my 2cp.
Archangels - Thelanis

Kyrian - Dellek - Devestia - Harleaiquin - Nakano - Narizue - Xandek

I'm not a Monster Manual type of Person. Cant say I look forward to seeing any particular mob.
Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? (excluding things like mules or guild banker characters etc)
I Currently Play 8 Characters
Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?
Knowng Turbine, I'd take "THe Enemy". I'd LOVE to say "The Riddle" because I love a GOod Riddle... Unfortunatly, My Experience in this game is "Riddle" = "Minigame" and I HATE the Twitch Minigames.

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?
No Doubt. The Guy From the Twelve in Ritual Sacrifice. Its Refreshing to not only have a NPC that can take care of himself, but actually aids the party on their completion.

Week 19 with very little feeback on our Responses..... Would be nice if the following week recapped what turbine thought of our Responses at least.

Pseudo-Dragons because my caster needs a familiar.

Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? (excluding things like mules or guild banker characters etc)

Three- One capped, one gimped and one to play with the missus.

Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?

The Enemy - because the Riddle will be solved within a couple of days of release and a clever enemy is more than enough of a riddle.

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?

There is only one NPC that shines through with the kind of go-gettingness I respect out of an NPC and keeps a party on their toes...the one and only Coyle.

Question 1
How much, if any, effort do you invest in your character's appearance? At creation I spend a bit of time, if I have to look at the back of this person's head the entire time I play them I want to make sure it's not going to get annoying (have a human female with a living pony tail that drives me crazy flopping around all the time haha)

Question 2
A mysterious box appears before you. The writing on the side of it reads "Soap". When you stand near it, you feel the urge to climb on top of it and speak. What do you say? (Remember the forum/thread guidelines) Fix the lag, fix the bugs, don't make old content harder just because you raise the level cap..Velah in particular comes to mind

Question 3
Recently we asked what your favorite (and least favorite) character class was. This week we ask... what is your favorite character race, and why? I mostly play humans for the extra feat and skill points but it depends on the build and the class, sometimes better racial enhancements make up for the feat

This week's question(s) are:

Question 1
What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO? (with a nod to the thread already running on this very topic, we think alike ) No idea but what i don't want to see is more freakin undead

Question 2
On your primary server, how many characters do you play? (excluding things like mules or guild banker characters etc) 4

Question 3
You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through? Enemy! I can solve puzzles in the newspaper, I play DDO to face monsters

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?

Last week

1) How much, if any, effort do you invest in your character's appearance?
I put a lot of effort into appearances of my characters. The one thing I wish I could do most, is have one armor/helm/shield for use and one for appearance. I have heard that everquest does this.

2)A mysterious box appears before you. The writing on the side of it reads "Soap". When you stand near it, you feel the urge to climb on top of it and speak. What do you say?
If the devs change the game in any way, please tell us. We can take change. There's no need to hide it.

3)Recently we asked what your favorite (and least favorite) character class was. This week we ask... what is your favorite character race, and why?
My favorite race would probably have to be Half Orc. As for one in DDO, it would be Warforged, just gotta love all the immunities and changing popular opinion by example instead of debate.

This week
1)What is the next monster you'd love to see in DDO?
Balrogs

2)On your primary server, how many characters do you play?
12

3)You wake up in an empty square room. There are two doorways on opposite walls, each with a sign above it. One sign says "The Riddle" the other says "The Enemy". Which door would you walk through?
The riddle. (not the one-chance agility test, i.e. abbot raid)

4)Who is your favorite NPC and why?
Cydonie, because she has a great story to tell.
Exile of Xoriat
Pestilence

Question 4
Who is your favorite NPC and why?
