    Default No WDA this week

    Hello all!

This week we will not be posting a WDA report. This does not mean that the dev’s aren’t working hard. We’re nearing the end of the production cycle for Module 7: The Way Of The Monk, and most of the work is polishing and finishing touches, so there’s not many changes to let you know in the next couple weeks.

We’ll keep an eye out for more changes and let you know about them as soon as we can.

    Thanks!
    -Quarion

    Well, I'm kinda sad.

I was really hoping the WDA would come up today and on it would be some new Iron Companion enhancements. The Mithral Defenders just aren't strong enough for the end game.

Edit: And could we maybe get a rough idea of when to expect Mod 7 to hit Risia, if at all?

I hear May for Risia and May for release. Okay, my 3 requests for the next WDA:

    • Selecting "Quit" or being disconnected no longer removes one from their current instance adventure when they reconnect.
    • An 8th level cleric spell has been added (or fix Holy Aura)
    • 8th level spell effects have been added to the treasure tables

As a reminder for devs, here are the broken level 8 spells:
    1. Symbol of Death: hitpoint limit not multiplied like the limit for Power Word spells are.
    2. Holy Aura: mouseover description claims a blinding effect against attackers. There is no such effect.
    3. Summon Monster VIII: the CR 9 Bezerika has BAB 0, and gets all his attack bonus from his strength modifier. That gives him about +6 on attack rolls, well less than what the Summon VII Efreet has (and that Efreet is a caster, not a melee brute)

    Default VERY Disappointing....

OK, so the only feedback to the community is how bad the community is acting. Now, we don't get any sort of update because "most of the work is polishing and finishing touches."

Here is something that the devs could tell us:

    1. Are we getting new feats (beyond those covered by the addition of monks)?
    2. Are we getting new spells?
    3. Are we getting any new specialist enhancement lines?

I'm worried that since the mod is apparently in such a state of completion, and nothing has shown up in the WDA, that it's a "no" to all of those. Yet I can't imagine that we don't get at least one of those....

Advice, you might want to try to be a little more complete in future communications.

For example, if all that's left is finishing touches, that implies there will not be new or heavily-altered magic spells in mod 7. The assumption that there could be some new spells has undermined the feedback of paladin changes, for example.

Reading the other WDA threads would've given you guys plenty of opportunity to pop in and say "At this time I don't know of any plan to put a new spell in mod 7". It's managing expectations; get the disappointment of stuff that won't be added out of the way early, so customers adjust to it.

Just a hint: if you see your connection icon go red, and you can't move, then it's likely you are about to be disconnected. At that point, press Alt-F4, fix your network, and rejoin the game. You will not be kicked out of the quest as long as you are back in 5 minutes or less - there might even be more leeway than that, but I've always managed to get back in fine.

Doing a /quit automatically removes you from the group/instance so you should never do this inside an instance. Use Alt-F4 instead - it's safer!

Personally, I hope that it does not hit Risia at all before being released, or only hits Risia in a limited manner (like MOD 6). The reason I feel this way is because many guilds go into Risia and learn the "nuances" of the new raid and/or dungeons with the purpose of taking advantage of that knowledge when it goes live, and not the purpose of reporting bugs and issues. This is not and should not be the purpose of Risia.

Is there any way Turbine could hand select certain players and/or guilds that are interested in bug testing and reporting and do a closed beta of new content?

They do that already for raids. Some guilds have been asked to do this for previous raid releases.

im just the oposite view i hope it goes to risia for a week or so that way bugs can be found before live, for mod 6 it was only on risia for a few days not long enough to find major bugs. IMO only a small few take advantage of risia the rest look for bugs.

remember when mod 6 went live you could not repeat the raid once you finished until they fix it.

A presentation taped about a week ago stated that May 26-30 is "Monk Week".

Heh... I know about the Alt-F4 and have repeatedly told others... but somehow it doesn't stop us from always losing one PUG'er in the shroud every other run - usually right before or during part 4 if not midway in part 1. I don't remember quit or dc'ing causing instance removal 2 mods ago and before... hence it's a bug that should be fixed.

One would think that the release might be a week or so before the "monk week" event... just in case there is *cough* unexpected downtime due to bugs in the Mod.

    I'll say May 20th.

Hmmm, things that COULD have been posted:

-The Developement Team and QA Team are looking into a way of communicating with the community to resolve issues surroundeing VAGUE explainations of "Exploit". Though we will not tell you what is, we are looking into ways of communicating what is NOT.

    -Lag Issues -QA -I/P

-Splintered Horns _Have been added into a recipee, this should alleviate any concerns. (Yet to see that there IS a definative addition involving these). Might have missed it though, sorry if so.

-With the realization of the /Tells that our paying customers are recieving, we have seen several interesting ideas. We will continue working on these, and will continue to post updates in the WDA as we near a conclusion. Thank you for using the forums to make suggestions.

-AI pathing is still buggy, we are still developing a resolution. I/P

-We are currently aware of issues with communicating with our (obviously) not well informed customers, so the WDA will now begin to include items that are of interest NOT pertaining to our new marketing gimick, The Monk. I/P

ACtually, that was in the DDO Newsletter we [Should of gotten] a few days ago.

THis whole No WDA is incredibly Dissapointing. Theres SOOOOO Much Missing still. We have no idea how Monks are being imlemented at this time, We only have a vague description of the new Quests/Raids, and have no indication of when the update is actually coming.

Figures though. TUrbine seems to think we thrive on Anticipation rather than Excitement. ANticipation simply causes distress inthe gaming community. Insteadof getting excited about what we can do, Too many people get concerned about what we CANT do because nothing has been said about X or Y....

Give us a VIdeo... Give us something to get Excited about... So far, I'm not really looking forward to mod 7.
